The PC police....are driving me insane!

“The P.C. police, they live inside of my head.
The P.C. police, they come to me in my bed.”

Oh yeah, when did you think that Cheap Trick could have political relevance. Only time for a short post tonight, so let’s get this off the chest.

How many of you would like to see the PC police clip the string on all of the outrage, most recently directed at George Allen, Joe Biden and Mitt Romney?

Was George Allen trying to be a smartass and insult some smug liberal punk who was following him around, in no small part making George’s ass smart? Yes-clearly. Not admirable by any means but hardly evidence of some deep seated racism. Especially when one also remembers that "maccaca" primarily means "monkey". There is no evidence of deep seated racism in George Allen’s public life. He grew up in a football family and, as I recall, George Is Redskins and Rams were desegregated teams so I very much doubt if he learned a lot of racial animus in the home growing up.

I’ve already written about Mitt Romney and “tar baby”. That PC complaint represents a victory by the most sensitive cranks to limit our public discourse to only the most generic of language. Given Romney’s context was clear, and again, absolutely no evidence that he is anything but a good and decent man, how can anyone seriously infer a racist comment.

Even Joe Biden didn’t say anything all that outrageous. I mean Joe’s fun to ridicule (for any number of reasons) but does anyone think he really is a racist? Bragging that your state was a slave state-in the context in which it was used-may be peculiar but it is not an endorsement of racism or slavery for God’s sake. Indian immigrants and their families do own and run a disproportionately high percentage of convenience stores, particularly small mom and pop shops. That’s not a criticism; it’s an observation and a compliment. Isn’t owning your own business kind of the American dream of every immigrant? Or of every American? The only people who could be insulted by Biden’s statement are people who look down at shopkeepers, like the limousine liberals that compose the Democrat leadership.

It is very hard to listen to people express outrage over this claptrap.

Sing it boys,

I try to sleep, theyre wide awake,
they wont leave me alone.
They dont get paid to take vacations, or let me alone.
They spy on me, I try to hide, they wont let me alone.
They persecute me, theyre the judge and jury all in one.
Because theyre waiting for me.
Theyre looking for me.
Evry single night theyre driving me insane.
Those men inside my brain.

Your right Ted. The P.C. police are stifling open discourse. We all need to get over our tender sensitivities and seek the truth. Our history demands the intellectual honesty of Thomas Paine and our other forefathers of true Democracy. Let freedom reign.

Of course, when you look at what George Allen said after the "macaca" comment, it makes you pause. He looked right at the guy and said "Welcome to America." The fact is that the guy was born in Virginia (unlike Allen). But for Allen American = european ancestry. Sure thing, no racism there.

What's wrong with NOT being racist? Too much for your Party Ted?

I wonder when you'll be having Mel Gibson over for dinner and drinks.

Mel made a stupid comment illustrating some resentments and suddenly everyone connects the dots from his movie to indicate he is really a Jew hater. First, the movie is basically Christ's story and anyone accusing Christ of hating Jews knows nothing of the Bible or Christianity. Unitarian Universalists and the like - I am calling you all out as nutz! Second, how is it that people that care nothing for Isreal's right to exist suddenly feel so offended by Mel Gibson's drunken tirade?

The same people that want to label Mel Gibson the scourge of mankind had no problem with Tom Cruise - until he lashed out against ADD and Post-Partem and then they went nutz. The PC Thought Police have sacred cows you know.....

Some resentments?

...The report says Gibson then launched into a barrage of anti-Semitic statements: "F*****g Jews... The Jews are responsible for all the wars in the world." Gibson then asked the deputy, "Are you a Jew?"....

Ted-
There's a difference between being the "PC Police" and observing that somebody running for President should make comments SO STUPID. Do you really think it's Presidential for a Senator to insult an College Student to his face on camera, and then tell him "Welcome to America." And with Biden it's just like he can't open his mouth without sticking his foot in it.

We aren't personally offended by any of those comments, but it certainly reflect poorly on the judgement of these guys who want to be leaders of the free world.

Keep up the good work buddy.

Sticks and stone may break my bones, but words will never harm me.

We've ALL become TOO sensitive to words and our indignation reflects a less developed self-esteem than those that do not find themselves paralyzed by the words of another.

What does Honkey mean? Am I to be offended by that word? It's my choice not my obligation to be offended.

The D's depend on this as a strategy. Let's not let them get away with it.

It's a WORD for god's sake.

You've reached a new low Sporer in defending George Allen. Is there any Republican ass you won't kiss?

I was thinking of the Buggles song today. You know

Teddy, killed the GOP Rock Star (Lamberti)
In his mind and in his soul
He isn;t an ahole

Teddy killed Lamberti? Huh?

Ted didn't recruit Gene Phillips, that's just not true. In fact, its dumb, like Phillips hasn't run against Mauro every four years since 98. Isn't this their 4th match up in 8 years? Phillips didn't need any encouragement.

Ted tried to recruit a Republican to run but no one credible would do it. Ted said we'd only run a credible candidate, not a crank that couldn't win. As much as Ted wants to turn the Courthouse, I know for a fact that Ted said we wouldn't even consider endorsing Phillips because he's not a Republican.

War sporer for being one of the few willing to take it to the Dems, macaca and all!

I love how the Democrats and apparently some fearful republicans think that democrats will be fired up to re-elect their corrupt officials. What will be the rallying cry? Come on D's...let's bring this one home for the sake of integrity!

Huh? Even Democrats can understand corruption when they see it and they don't want to see it in their elected officials, even if from their own party.

D's will elect ANYTHING as long as it hasn't been put in jail yet. That's the standard. They can mismanage lie and scam, but as long as they are actually in prison yet, they are good to go!

That's leadership GORDO style.

Is the Lamberti staffer who has given up on his race actually suggesting that Republicans should have stood by and let La Machina continue to operate in light of what we've learned about their political activities?

Are you suggesting that republicans ought to have ignored the corruption and the misuse of our tax dollars as a campaign strategy and tactic for Lamberti?

If Lamberti was relying on winning by suppressing republican turnout, he really didn't have much to begin with. That's sad. There was tons of material to work with. Ted being the source of your loss is really stretching it.

Sounds like staffers are already trying to CYA.

I'm gone for a few days and what breaks out?

There's not going to be any big turnout on the southside for Mauro, those guys always turn out anyway.

Sporer-stay on their ass and maybe some other pissed off republicans might turn out.
