Hillary trails every Republican: How many lamps were broken last night?

The news broke yesterday. Hillary once again trails every leading Republican in the Presidential race. This latest Zogby Poll undoubtedly caused more breakage as the day wore on.

In a campaign where bad news produces broken lamps and other household items, one can only imagine exactly how many such items were smashed when Evita learned of the bad news and the headlines to follow. I’m guessing four lamps, two saucers and Mark Penn’s femur (poor SOB-he had to break the bad news to Evita).

What’s your guess?

"I think Oprah Winfrey is a remarkable figure," Gingrich told Sawyer, "I think she brings a, not just a celebrity status, but there are millions of people who trust her judgment."

Pressed on whether the Oprah-factor would "tip" the nomination toward Obama, Gingrich replied, "I think it's a significant asset to (Obama) and he's not married to her."

"I think there's a double-edged sword when President Clinton shows up because he also reminds you, do you really want two presidents in the White House? And do you really want Mrs. Clinton to have to rely on President Clinton to have to win?"

I hope Mark Penn has reviewed his life insurance recently. His family may need it. Hopefully, the "suicide" clause has expired. An awful lot of people commit "suicide" around the Clintons.

Really Paul? Wanna make a bet?

All the work obama has been doing on college campuses is not going to be worth a Hill of beans when the kids go home for Christmas break.

Ted, how are we going to make Culver and Co. pay for yet another 1.5 million dollar screw up at DHS? Help us uncle Ted!

Fredneck, you may be correct, but I've seen a couple of polls now that indicate Obama has support from more Women AND more people over 45 than Hillary. Hillary's support comes largely from people who have never attended the caucus before. So, it will be interesting to see if the results reflect the polls.

The Oprah factor is also very interesting. More women respect Oprah than they do Hillary. Oprah may swing more democrat women to Obama than Hillary can get. She's not really a woman after all.

The latest Government Corruption story from the Register. The Democrats have been in charge of the State Government now for about 10 years. This is Chet Culvers problem that he inherited from Tom "I'm Hillary's national co-chair because I sold my soul to her to get a cabinet position" Vilsnake.

Federal investigators are asking the state of Iowa to repay $1.5 million intended to help the poor and the disabled.

The inspector general of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services is alleging that the state human services agency failed to adequately oversee the use of state and federal Medicaid money that pays for case-management services aimed at children, young mothers, the mentally retarded and other Iowans in need.

Anonymous said...

"The total amount of taxpayer money that's at issue is $2.5 million, but $1 million of that is state money that doesn't have to be repaid to the federal government."

Anonymous said...

"This isn't the first time the Iowa Department of Human Services has been asked to pay back money intended to help the poor and the disabled.

In 2006, the inspector general asked the Iowa Department of Human Services to pay back $3.5 million misspent on Hawk-I, the state-run health insurance program for children of working families.

In 2005, the inspector general said the state human services agency misspent almost $10 million intended for rehabilitation services provided to the mentally ill. Some care providers had billed taxpayers for bingo games and social activities that had nothing to do with rehabilitation, while others billed taxpayers for merely watching patients do routine chores such as sweeping the floor.

Let's see..is anyone doing a full accounting of these democrat controlled government agencies and what they've stolen from us?

CIETC - what's the dollar figure there? Is Jonathon Wilson still making his entire living billing us for his services to them? All that money went to fund lavish lifestyles for the criminals, and now perhaps for their attorney too. The rent is pretty high in those downtown law firms.

Iowa Foundation for Medical care - THOUSANDS THOUSANDS AND MORE THOUSANDS to support lavish lifestyles rather than guard our tax dollars from abuse.

How much is the racism in hiring lawsuit going to cost the state government, er, I mean us taxpayers?

How much money did Chet give to the Touchplay entrepreneurs settle their lawsuit against the democrats?

I hear D's from time to time talk about how much money the R congress spent as if they care about misspending money.

This is misspending money right here in River City by and for the benefit of democrats.

Is there any democrat in Iowa that cares about all this misspent taxpayer money? Don't be asking for a tax increase on anything.

"Federal officials say that in some instances, the lack of documented services may be attributable to the state computer system used by caseworkers."

Anonymous said...

"The department has acknowledged that it had inadequate internal controls in 2003 and 2004 when the improper claims for payment were submitted.

But in its response to the inspector general's findings, the department says that the situation has improved since 2004 and that additional improvements are in the works.

Report Fraud
1-800-831-1394

This is the fraud hotline into DHS. Who do you call when they are the frauders?

I wonder how they define fraud.

So, if the democrats get their way on government "free" healthcare, which agency administers it? The DHS? Which government agency is competent enough to handle Health care for 300 million people, plus the Canadians and Brits that come to the US to avoid their "free" healthcare?

For example, the state billed the federal Medicaid system for services provided to a woman named Heather.

But the caseworker's explanation of Heather's services reads: "With Heather, she goes out to eat, Wal-Mart to buy Linda a present for Valentine's Day. Has been making snacks in the microwave. Picks out different things. Buys her snacks and TV Guide at Fareway. Goes to the bank and cashes her checks. LeAnn got Scooby Doo stuff for Christmas."

The explanation for services provided to a man named Melvin reads: "Melvin was shredding papers today when I visited him. He was quite meticulous about this task. He (did not) have a lot to say to me."

If I hear one more word about FEMA and Hurricane Katrina...I'm gonna

FEMA is controlled by democrats too! Democrats control every single government entity. Had enough of that?

Iowa has 6% of the population and is number 1 in government employees. Why does Iowa need so much government and so many worthless government employeees?

Anonymous said...

I just got off the phone with a democrat buddy over at the legislature. They are really pissed about all this. They are going to pass some new laws and raise taxes so that this won't happen again! This would never have happened if they had more inspectors oversiting the oversiters. We need more laws becuase the laws on the books were clearly not enough to prevent this fraud from happening.

It's worth reading the comments attached to this article at the register. The author of the article contributes which is really nice, btw, but it turns out his story was only reflecting the amount of money that had to be REPAID to the Feds, not the entirety of what was misspent. The number is even larger.

They've been misspending and mismanaging our money for years, since at least the beginning of Vilsnakes term. We only heard about this because it involved Fed money.

Will Chet fire anyone over this mismanagement?

And, have they only been providing services and billing medicaid since 2003? How did their "internal controls" break down just during 2003 and 2004 and they still haven't fixed it?

Hey 1:17 you forgot something. republicans are always trying to shrink government because we know it is inherently impossible for it to function in these kinds of areas.

You guys foisted upon us the Dept of Education, the Dept of Commerce and many other nonsensical governmental agencies.

Blame Democrats. Republicans are just stuck with it because we have no balls to fight you.

We're too worried about hurting your feelings with the truth, and needing to stand around and pat ourselves on the back for our good behavior.

Clinton's problems with middle aged women are very real. Chatted today with a NH single middle class educated mom who was unusually vehement for a woman about disliking her.

Hence not surprised Oprah smelling Clinton blood in the water is hitting the road for Obama. The downside for Obama is it doesn't look good he needs mama to fight his school yard battles for him.

Agree with previous commentator about our contribution to big government. Disasters like the EPA and the Legal Services Corporation were Nixon creations. He also took us off the gold standard.

R U a product of the Government run Union schools? Does that explain your lack of adult communication skills? Were you social promotion to the next grade?

Mark Penn: Buckling Under the Pressure of an Unfavorable Poll

All is fair in love and war, the centuries–old proverb states. Politics is not included, but given the way the game is played in modern–day America, maybe it should be.

That’s the sense I had again this morning watching Mark Penn denigrate our latest Zogby Interactive survey simply because it showed his client in a bad light.

Because Mark Penn is a quality pollster himself, we chalk up his contention that our poll is “meaningless” as a knee–jerk reaction by a campaign under pressure coming down the stretch. Several other polls – Zogby surveys and others – have shown her national lead and her leads in early–voting states like Iowa and New Hampshire have shrunk.

Clinton to Commute Terrorist Sentences
By KATHARINE Q. SEELYE

WASHINGTON -- Under continued pressure from minority politicians and human rights activists, President Clinton Wednesday agreed to commute the sentences of 16 members of a Puerto Rican nationalist group that was involved in more than 100 bombings of political and military installations in the United States at least 15 years ago.

Most of the 16 were convicted of crimes like seditious conspiracy, possession of an unregistered firearm or interstate transportation of a stolen vehicle. Yet some were sentenced to more than 50 years in jail, a length of time that the president viewed as excessive, administration officials said.

MUSCATINE, Iowa (AP) - Hillary Rodham Clinton will bring America "back to the future," husband Bill says, promoting his own legacy in public life almost as much as his wife's presidential campaign.

narcissism
NOUN:

Excessive love or admiration of oneself. See Synonyms at conceit.
A psychological condition characterized by self-preoccupation.

Erotic pleasure derived from contemplation or admiration of one's own body or self, especially as a fixation on or a regression to an infantile stage of development.

The attribute of the human psyche charactized by admiration of oneself but within normal limits.

I sure hope Obama realizes how Back to the Future is definately not "change". This is kind of funny on two points.

One - The movie headline says the past and the future are the same in the same sentence. Thus, no change at all.

Two - all of Billary's statements sound like that clever movie title. They figure out how to be on both sides at the same time in the same sentence.

Funny how the clintons like those kind of lines.

It's as clever as their Soprano's commercial.

They think we don't get their private jokes.

Well We will see who will stay and who will go. it looks as if Lott and hastert are bailing to circumvent the new lobby laws. How piggish. I see that KKKarl Rove is blaming Congress for invading Iraq. Next thing You know CRaig, Mc Connell and Grahm will be straight and Vitter will be diaper trained. America will throw you out like the trash you all are. Cheney will be in Dubai and hopefully the populace will tar and feather all of the rest of you.

And speaking of the Clinton administration and going back to the future, who does Billary have in mind as Treasury Secretary?

Have you heard about Citigroup? Robert Rubin, Clintons Treasury secretary, just sold the bulk of CitiGroup to the Arab Emirates in desparation because he doesn't know what he is doing, clearly.

So, Robert, wha happen? You were in charge. You are an economic expert. You were very condescending I recall about how smart you are about money when you allowed a recession to happen just as W took over.

Remember how you guys raised taxes that created the recession? (W solved that problem with the tax cuts, btw)

Wha' happan Bob?

The Oscar-winning actress and singer is a FOB—Friend of Bill Clinton—and the endorsement is hardly surprising.

In Hollywood, as in politics, timing is everything, and Streisand's endorsement comes one day after another entertainment superstar, Oprah Winfrey, announced she would campaign for Clinton rival Barack Obama.

So I go over to the register looking for some scintilating local Iowa coverage of the intense national politics happening right here in River City and find their big headline of the day is to report that Bill Clinton ordered an Omelette and home fries for breakfast in Iowa City.

We have HUGE INTERNATIONAL NEWS HAPPENING, and our local media folks seem to be MIA. I hear alot of traffic reports though.

“If I had to go into a blizzard of adversaries, all alone without a chance in a thousand — but I thought I was doing the right thing and I could only ask one person I’ve ever met in my entire life to go with me, one person I knew who would stay until the last dog died, never wilt, never break, never quit — I would ask her,” Bill Clinton said, speaking in his soft drawl, his voice hushed as the crowd of about 600 at a YMCA in Muscatine listened intently.

“Of all the people I’ve known, anywhere on the face of this earth, I would ask her. I hope you will make her the next president.”

I think she already proved that when you shoved that cigar up that 20 year old intern's vagina in the oval office while a head of state was waiting on hold in the oval office and which created that famous semen stain on the blue dress worn by that woman whom you had not had sex with not even a single time.

Mark Klein right now is leading in all the unofficial polls in Iowa. He has Iowa and New Hampshire clearly won. I drove by Frank Stalone's campaign headquarters today as he admitted that there is no fighting the Klein onslaught. Amazing that all these candidates build organizations make phone calls and work hard only to lose to Mark Klein's Caucus machine.
