Apparently not the cause of his life-Edwards out.

Rumor has it that John Edwards is abandoning his Presidential campaign. If so, his statements of last week that he was in the race for the long term, because his vision of a social welfare nanny state, grounded on the Marxian maxim of from each according to their ability and to each according to their need, was the “cause of his life“. Apparently not.

So long John, hate didn‘t sell this time around either.

Thought he was THE guy to beat McCain?

Well, there's always an ambulance for him to chase somewhere...

What a glaring example of the simplistic idiocy of the conservative mind.

Why is it that many seemingly bright people turn into babbling idiots once they adopt the blatantly absurd doctrines of conservatism?

Fortunately, it is time to turn the hourglass over.

Hate didn't sell? Who did John Edwards hate?

Pointing out that corporations control everything is merely a statement of fact. Edwards is a fighter, not a hater. For hate, see right wing radio guys, like Mr. Savage.

Oh give me a break Spotlight.. if there's a picture for the term "self-loathing" in the dictionary its John Edwards...

The guy is worth millions..clear cuts a forest in North Carolina to build a massive mansion..

And he has the hubris to try to talk down to us about poverty??

Edwards strategy was to try to use the same old Democratic Party playbook strategy thats failed time and time again...class warfare.

No one was buying it...if Edwards was such a "fighter"..why then didnt he run for re-election in his own state..dude cut and run from that race quicker than Nanci Pelosi can run to the microphones..

What's Edwards legacy now? A twice failed Presidential candidate..and a failed Vice Presidential candidate..

He's about to join the ranks of people like Gary Hart, Dick Gephardt and Geraldene Ferarro...

Read these posts. While few, in legal parlance, I rest my case.

Layman..

Do you have anything of substance to say..or do you just sit and try to look intellegent?

If so..its really not working.. Thanks..

definitely not working...

Art,

"I rest my case". Do you know a case is based on law logically applied to fact, at least if you are somehow claiming you made a legal argument.

Other types of argument also exist.

However, you confuse ad hominem with argument. Like most liberals you simply call Republicans names and then watch the Jon Stewart show, or Maher or some similar show on MSNBC, where the chamber echoes with conclusory statements and child like insults.

The ad hominem attack is the first resort of the uninformed mind. Art, comments like those on this thread expose you my friend.

Hey Spotlight, how many gerbils?

Rubbers? What are we going to need these for?

seriously:

Anyone, having perused this site, would quickly come to the conclusion that "substance" is not a prerequisite for posting here.

I neither seek nor expect, from those exhorting on here, any admiration or appreciation for my intellect. I have a sufficiency of both.

I was not attempting to make legal argument. I merely borrowed the phrase from the legal lexicon.

However, you confuse ad hominem with argument. Like most liberals you simply call Republicans names and then watch the Jon Stewart show, or Maher or some similar show on MSNBC, where the chamber echoes with conclusory statements and child like insults.

I do not confuse ad hominem with argument. An assertion, ad hominem or not, can be the origin of argument. Would you suggest that in your hallowed legal halls, when appealing to juries, lawyers never use ad hominem arguments?

Your retort, highlighted above, does not demonstrate any appeal to intellect. It is, though couched in a seemingly more sophisticated manner, in net, an ad hominem statement. Your post regarding John Edwards was more of the same.

It is interesting that conservatives, whose entire rise to prominence was based on Atwater/Rovian ad hominem attacks, would now be lecturing on the absurdity of such a tool. It is the height of hypocricy.

The ad hominem attack is the first resort of the uninformed mind. Art, comments like those on this thread expose you my friend.

My point exactly, thank you. Use your self-perceived intellect and read the commentary appearing here, yours and others of your political persuasion, and find for me more than a handful of examples of logical, reasoned argument.

Two adages come to mind:

"As Ye Sow, So Shall Ye Reap." (seems particularly apt for you in an agricultural community)

"Physician, heal thyself."

Once again, I rest my case!

Layman likes to hear himself talk...so did Mark Klein..hmm..

But..getting back to the post at issue here..

Who wants to bet that if the Dems get shot down this year..that Edwards will run in 12'...

I still think Art is really that nutzo Klein and he's doing a lot to prove me correct.

The Deplorable Old Bulldog said...

Yes, he is. But let us not discourage him from playing. After all aren't the little people the ones who make the big people big?

Shannon Noll is as true in debate as it is in the rock star world.

Whether it be me or the apparent site favorite Mark Klein, one of our ilk is needed here to try and ignite just the slightest glimmer of intellectual thought from the slumbering conservatives, a group completely devoid of new ideas since Reagan. And most of Reagan's ideas were bad.

Site favorite Mark Klein? I rest my case this clown is Mark (zero votes in Iowa and 19 votes in New Hampshire Klein). This idiot can't stay away from the website and thinks his insights are so keen he must post under a fake name to share his brilliance. Art, if you're not Klein I apologize in advance but you are NOT HELPING YOUR CASE with any positive reference to Klein. Klein who was renounced by everyone to include Republicans, Democrats, Independents, and the news media. The guy was rejected by even the Father's Rights people who he claimed would support him in the thousands.

Don't reference him in any positive way if you want us to believe you are not him.

There is a school of thought that suggests I could care less who you think I might be. Of course I would never desire to be in that brier-patch.

Is puzzling that I never, ever, heard of this seemingly renowned fellow until my ignominious venture to this site.

From the sounds of him he would seem to be a man after my own heart.
