Universal coverage for Iowa-$550 million start up cost.

Democrats continue to demand universal health insurance coverage for all Iowans. Now we know the price tag. The Democrat proposal would require a 15% across the board increase in the state income tax or a twenty percent increase in the state sales tax. Since Iowa already is in the bottom five states for business climate and new business creation a massive increase a dramatic increase in the local tax burden would probably kill us off. While the destruction of Iowa's small business economy is a liberal goal, the rest of us know that such a result is bad.

Even worse, the Iowa Democrats, like liberals everywhere, do nothing to actually control the rising cost of health care. Increasing costs, coupled with linearly increasing civic dependency on the government payments at all levels of the health care economy, would assure an ever increasing tax burden to meet those costs.

The worst part, however, is such guaranteed coverage would actually increase the cost of health care by providing guaranteed state payment for medical services. Historically, guaranteed government payment increases the overall costs of the good or service that is guaranteed. Or, put another way, have you ever heard of “Medicare fraud”?

No wonder libs are so opposed to free and open debate, they’re unarmed.

No wonder why the Democrats don't want to do anything about property tax reform..

The nonpartisan Legislative Service Bureau is already projecting a coming 500 million dollar increase in property taxes in the next 5 years if nothing is done about reforming the property tax..

There's your 500 million "start up" costs right there..

The Democrats have handed us the keys to our campaign in 2008..now..its up to us to drive it home to victory..

To arms! To arms! The British health care system is coming!

One would sure hope that your legal argument is more substantial than the absurd argument you present on your blog.

Did it ever occur to you that "Medicare fraud" is practiced by your vaunted "free market". Businesses, corporations, large and small, continue to feed at the trough by falsifying billings.

The "free market" trough, where all conservatives feast, can often appear as a pig sty at feeding time.
