New features...............

…………………… here on the Real Sporer today. We’ve added a new feature “The Real Contenders”. We think that these are the most official campaign websites for each of the Presidential contenders in 08. Gov. Tommy Thompson doesn’t seem to have any Presidential site so I used his official Sec. of HHS biography.

Please let me know about any other or better links as we plan on adding to the initial links we added today.

We also added a new link, “
The Urban Grind”. The “Grind” is a pretty darn funny take on life as a conservative in New York. I suppose you'd develop a Gilbert O'Sullivan complex if you were a conservative in New York. Anyway, its a pretty good read.

This is a quote from Rekha Basu in her recent column. This is a fairly typical view for an atheist. No wonder her columns are nothing but depression filled words of division, defeat, and despair - I think the D's are mostly like that as you pointed out in your story below this one. It's an interesting coincidence that Christians tend to be Republicans and atheists tend to be Democrats.

"I am not a person of much religious faith. I don't have a strong feel for what happens to the soul after death, but I have a strong suspicion that nothing does, that you simply cease to exist."

Hope comes from something to believe in which is bigger than yourself. If there is nothing to believe in, then there is no place from which hope and optimism can spring.

Thanks for the kind words Sporer. This is the first time I've heard anyone comment that my blog is funny. I'm flattered.

When you say Gilbert O'Sullivan complex, how do you mean? Are you referring to the singer of the same name whose hit songs included "Alone Again, Naturally" and "Clair?"

Funny as in clever and amusing in an ironic way. A big compliment from the Real Sporer.

Huh? You didn't answer her question. Are you referring to his song "All Alone, Naturally?" (or whatever it really is).

A Conservative in New York would all alone, naturally.

Lonely is the conservative who resides in Manhatten.

Wasn't Gilbert just the dreamy minstrel of gloom in the early 70s.

I got it Ted.

Conservatives on college campuses and in Manhattan are lucky. They get to observe liberals in their natural habitat.

It's much like going to the zoo.

Rekha is basically a socialist blaming America for all of India's problems. Once you understand that much everything else falls into place.

Our raison d'ĂȘtre here at TRS

War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself.” John Stuart Mill

We at The Real Sporer believe that the crises of our generation is the preservation of a United States of America based on fundamental rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Oddly enough, our generation, that grew in the quiet and secure 50s, 60s and 70s and thought we could escape history now find ourselves at the cross roads of history. At a time when the prevailing media, academic and even now industrial elites find the easy road of paternalistic socialist totalitarianism more expedient to travel we are convinced that only preserving the more traditional America will better provide the well known blessings of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness to us and our posterity.

In the real world, the Republican freedom agenda is the only alternative to the thought police and rations commissar of the socialist nanny state. But the agenda that we share with the founding generation, life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, will never again prevail if we don't fight our generation's battle to renew America's commitment to freedom with our socialist adversaries.

Our mission statement is therefore clear: provide the information and argument that leads to a Republican Renaissance and Republican governance.
