Democrats love to scare people with alarming statistics. Its part of their endless propaganda technique.
This week, the Des Moines Register allowed its internet space to be used by ultraliberal state Sen. Jack “welfare, its not just for poor people anymore” Hatch to push this canard in support of the Democrats’ planned extension of the welfare state and destruction of private business-“In Iowa 278,000 Iowans do not have health care of which 35,000 are kids."
What does Sen. Hatch mean by “do not have health care”? It certainly doesn’t mean that any sick person cannot go to a public County hospital (Broadlawns here in Des Moines) and be treated. It cannot mean that anyone is realistically prevented from obtaining care at Iowa’s many charitable health care facilities?
Where did that number come from? It’s a pretty hard claim to believe, especially the part about, of course, the children, particularly since Iowa already provides not only care described above but health insurance for children. Iowa law even makes the inability to provide healthcare a basis for the removal of a child from the home and treatment or care at state expense.
So Jack, where’s the back story? What ever do you mean by “do not have health care” and how did you come up with those numbers? Why don’t you make the source study available on line?
Or, aren't the numbers you, and whatever liberal entity that produced those numbers, either an outright fabrication or a disingenuous distortion of definitions and numbers, designed to burden the public with false alarm and false guilt?

Way to go Teddy!
Liberals love to spend taxes while claiming it is for the children. As a divorced father always under threat of legal crucification in the name of the children I take extreme exception to the notion children are going uncared for by the state (or dads paying child support).
The Hawk-I program has been a big blank check not to mention other empowerment programs/slush funds with CIETC readily coming to mind. After all of our wasted tax dollars I would expect we could declare victory over poverty but we can't or liberals like Jack Hatch could not pay back special interest lobbies. For that reason he must continue to invent new reasons to expand programs and the knee jerk tear jerker is always the mantra that our children are dying in the streets while fat cat Republicans greedily hold back tax dollars.
When Jack Hatch supports real family issues and stops standing with the majority of Democrats in opposition to equal parenting issues he can earn some credibility. In the meantime any statements from him concerning the children have a lot less to do about children and a lot more to do with lining the pockets of special interest groups.
Ted - will you enlighten us as to why you guys at the SCC did not allow Leon to stay in the room during the entire meeting? What's the deal? Only white people allowed :)
why haven't we heard anything from the legislators on this?
why to the democrats never get called out in their lies?
My assumption is the DemocRATS care about 3 healthcare issues and only 3!!!
1. Abortion.
2. Fetal Steam-Cell Research because they think it pertains to abortion. AND...
3. Abortion.
Everything else is demagogery to scare the naive against the Republicans because they cannot win on issues!!!
My questions for Jack Hatch:
1) Of these uninsured you mention, how many of them are between jobs (and thus "between" insurance)?
2) Of these uninsured, how many do not have insurance because they don't need it? Many single 20 somethings opt out of insurance because they are on good health and money is short.
3) Of these uninsured, how many do not insure because it is against their faith? The Amish don't carry insurance. They don't believe in it.
4) Of these uninsured, how many are actually on Medicaid, and are ashamed to admit they are receiving federal aid, so when they are questioned they deny they have insurance?
That's all for now. I'll be back later with more questions for Der Hatch.
The silence over here about the chair vote last weekend is deafening. Krusty laid the smack down - when will Sporer respond?
"Silence is deafening" - I think the conspiracy theory fell apart based on Ted's latest column.
obviously the losers from the campaigns are pissed off at the pissed off for being pissed off at the campaing losers for being piss poor losers and are now they are on a vendetta to piss off everyone else.
That should've been a line from Team America (the movie).
Seriously, the losers include those too pissed off to run again as the results are decided thanks to an incompetent state party. The democrats don't hang their candidates out to dry because they realize they need them in every possible office. Dems dominate EVERY city and county office across the state. Now they dominate the last place Republicans held a majority (the statehouse). Enough is enough for a party collecting record donations - spend a little on the candidates for the love of God!
My question for Ted (Jack) Sporer... When are you going to put Dr. Mark Klein back in your so called presidential poll? He has "legs" in Iowa, in fact, his own are here. Right now. Do you need his GPS coordinates as well???
