Sometimes a window…………….

……….. is all you need to know what’s inside. Elizabeth Edwards, an otherwise sympathetic figure, has provided this week's view of the true soul of the Democrat. These people hate us.

Please, take the time to read this article. This is a woman who is speaking pure irrational hatred of someone because they are simply a Republican.

Can you imagine Laura or Barbara Bush saying such a thing about a Democrat neighbor? There is no equivalency between Republican philosophical disagreements with Democrats, even if based on personal disapproval, and Democrat hatred of Republicans merely for disagreeing.

Republicans should internalize this basic premise of our society and never let it stray far from the top of our minds.

Hi Sporer,

Nice site! I've never been elected to anything, except if you count captain of the debating club in eighth grade (and that was only because the other guy had a lisp), so I'm already impressed.

Thanks for your feedback! I've been pretty lax about blogging lately, for reasons I will post about soon (not to sound mysterious or anything, just that I'm heavily swollen with child at the moment), so it's nice to hear your comments.

Good luck to you in the upcoming election season!

You're not overreacting, are you, Sporer? Elizabeth Edwards doesn't like to see her neighbor grab his gun when he sees strangers. That would scare me, too.

She's not spewing hatred, but you're coming close to doing so when you try to spin this into evidence that Democrats hate people.

And don't tell me Republicans limit themselves to "philosophical" differences with Democrats. That would not explain all the times I've see "democRATS" on various blogs. That is dehumanizing and maybe hateful, too.

Crazy Elizabeth made her own bed.

Speaking of PC craziness - I see everyone is made at Don Imus regarding his "racist" comment about "Nappy Hoes" playing Rutgers Basketball. I have one question, what was the name of the barbershop in Ice Cube's movie Barbershop 2?

Oh yeah, it was NAPPY CUTS. So are we saying the word "NAPPY" is racist only when Don Imus says it?

Elizabeth Edwards could have talked about a neighbor having a gun. Fine. Instead she chose to use Republican in a deliberate attempt to demonize republicans.

She's despicable.

Anonymous said...

Sporer,

I have to agree with 10:12. According to my eyes, the article gives this reason for Elizabeth’s dislike of her neighbor: "I don't want my kids anywhere near some guy who, when he doesn't like somebody, the first thing he does is pull a gun out. It scares the business out of me."

This is what Sporer said: “This is a woman who is speaking pure irrational hatred of someone because they are simply a Republican.”

Who is being irrational here?

Come on, give us some intellectual honesty! I have seen the tiny cracks in the hard partisan shell. I know there is some reason under the partisan surface.

Anonymous said...

What does being republican have to do with her complaint. That's the issue. She's politicking in the most vile way possible. She's spouting hate like she used to during her last campaign. She's a hater.

I think we know what's going on with her. She doesn't like the Rudy sign the guy put up.

And, how about that two americas thing again. His two americas are Republicans and democrats. He won't be president to republicans. he fears republicans. he's afraid of his neighbors, he's afraid of the fox news channel, he's just a total fraidy cat. how can he lead if he'll just talk to democrats.

How does he feel about talking to Syria and all the other dictator friends of democrats? I bet he was all supportive of Nancy "talking to our enemies".

And the difference between republicans and syrians, north koreans and iranians is?

Edwards is playing a ridiculous game that may work with the hate filled moveon.org crowd, but this will bite his ass big time in the general.

We won't forget.

Fox and Hounds
The left blackballs the Black Caucus.

Tuesday, April 10, 2007 12:01 a.m.

"In the battle for control of the Democratic Party, the George Soros-MoveOn.org crowd is used to getting its way. So it's revealing to watch the consternation in those precincts to the Congressional Black Caucus decision to co-sponsor a pair of Presidential primary debates this year with Fox News.

Liberal activists are livid, to say the least, with one anti-Fox pressure group condemning the Black Caucus for "dancing with the devil."

Color of Change, a coalition of black online activists, says the collaboration promulgates "bigoted, hate-filled worldviews."

Markos Moulitsas, the DailyKos front man, calls the CBC "corrupt and compromised" for "doing Fox's bidding."

His implication is that Black Caucus Members have somehow been bought off, though there is no evidence to support the slur.

This is to say nothing of some of the more vicious blog chatter, much of it carrying racial connotations...

...The CBC deserves credit for not capitulating to ideological intimidation--and for refusing to take orders from affluent and angry liberals who've never run for office.

Too bad the candidates have weaker knees."

Go read the whole article from the Wall Street Journal

Anonymous said...

"The pitchfork carriers now want to tell elected Democratic officials which journalists they can appear in public with.

Messrs. Edwards and Obama are bowing to those orders because they've decided they can only defeat Hillary Clinton by running to her left.

Of course if by some miracle one of them wins the nomination, he'll be known as the candidate from MoveOn.org in the general election too.

Republicans will have fun with that one."

On Elizabeth. Yes, the R comment was not necessary for her argument. I’ll give you that. But, it was not clearly her reason for disliking the man. That’s my point. And when you put up a Rudy sign, do you really expect not to be called out on being an R?

On Jesse & Al. I agree. Where is the outrage about rappers, black-on-black crime, and other self-destructive behaviors in African-American community? Luckily, we are starting to hear more voices even on the left that question these “leaders” who are clearly stuck in the 60’s.

On Fox, you know I’m with you. I know why people are very angry, but we need to move on. Ironically, the MoveOn crowd is badly stuck. It’s unfortunate that our candidates are pandering to them.

I wonder if I still qualify as a D…

Anonymous said...

ya know. the neighbor claims he is poor. he's been living there a long time. he bought the land during the depression. he's been out in the country alone until the edwards decided to build their 28,000 square foot plantation.

They begrudge him the constitutionally protected right to owning a gun for the purpose of defending his home.

I wonder what kind of security system the Edwards have. I'm sure it's all electronic using lots of energy. i'm sure those energy using alarm systems end up notifying someone with a gun who will run out to protect those frightened people in their plantation mansion.

So, if you own your own gun to protect yourself, you are a rabid rabid republican.

If you don't own your own gun, but you employ people who own their own gun and you hire them to protect you with that gun, you are what?????

A hypocritical limosine liberal.

Anonymous said...

Dear RF,

I've been wondering that, too (whether you still qualify as a D).

Self-destructive Black behavior is a distinct problem from a prominent white media star who regulary uses racist terms to knock African-Americans. Do you support his race-baiting? Either he's a racist we should shun, or he does it just to be cute--in which case he should be shunned.

Fox news is a propaganda outlet, not a good platform for debates. May I recommend the DVD movie "Outfoxed"?

10:51,

I tend to call things like I see them. That’s why I don’t make a good partisan talking head.

Regarding Imus (I assume you are referring to him). I’m not making any excuses for him. But I’m not hearing many people standing up for him either – not even Imus himself. Al, Jesse & co. should realize they have won a huge battle. Rightfully, Imus-like comments are no longer acceptable in our society. Al & Jesse need to give at least equal time for their outrage about prevalent dysfunction in the African-American community. As a person with a great personal stake in this issue, I am happy to see Juan Williams, Bill Cosby, Obama and others starting to move on to the current problems and not lingering in the 60’s. May I recommend Williams’ “Enough”?

On Fox. Every thinking person in this country realizes Fox’s slant. But when we are no longer willing to engage with the other side or go on “their” network, we are in deep shit. Isn’t it ironic if our lefty friend Kucinich (believe it or not, he’s probably closest to me ideologically in our prez field) is the only D willing to debate “anyone anywhere”? Do we not want to reach out to the viewers of the most popular 24-hr news channel?

Everyone knows that CBS is biased. Dan Rather got fired for gods sake. Republicans still appear on CBS.

What you guys say if we said "no, we will not talk to our enemies until they acknowledge our right to exist."

Would you use the Nancy Pelosi and current progressives sermon about needing to talk to our enemies? Why doesn't that work for them with Fox and republicans in general?

BTW, the big joke is that you guys are completely wrong and have no idea because you don't even bother to tune in ever. Your ideological sensitivities cannot handle disagreement. If you ever watched it, you'd know that there are libs on it all day long every day giving their point of view. CNN NEVER has an opposing point of view.

Is it like Jack Nicholson says in a great movie line: "The truth, you can't handle the truth"

Good point earlier about liberals typically cannot handle factual or contextual dispute.

Most have never seen Fox, but we all have grown up with the Big 3, the NYT, WaPo, etc...

Hannity is the biggest star and he's pretty Republican, obviously. O'Reilly is hardly Republican. He's not a secular socialist but he sure isn't a conservative in general.

I'd like to know when Fox forged documents, presented a news story based on teh forgery and coordinated its release with a REublican campaign? That is just the most recent example of not just bias, but actual connivance with Democrats for CBS.

Have you ever heard of the CBS "Man on the Street" group that they used to use for interviews. 18 of the 22 were Democrat activists (e.g.-on the Central Committee or more). I have hundreds of fact based examples.

My guess is you have non for Fox, except they present a different set of facts to the public and treat both parties somewhat equally. (Check out one of O'Reilly's immigration or global warmning diatribes and you'll know what I mean).

Finally, we do need more public debate, and you just don't get it from the liberal mainstream media-except CNN which does a pretty good job with the hard news. I would happily debate any Democrat, anywhere on any topic.

Anonymous said...

We could argue about the profit-seeking, capitalistic mainstream American media and its leanings till the cows come home. The bottom line is, what you R folks see as fair and balanced, I will surely see as slanted. What I consider objective, you consider biased. I don’t think there is any way we can change that. What I’m concerned about is the unwillingness to actually listen to what the other side is saying – be it actively avoiding the other side and “their” media outlets or only resorting to tired old partisan attack lines without really listening to the other side and their arguments.

How much do I really learn from all the lefty and D emails that crowd my inbox every day? Just by reading the subject line I know exactly what is going to be in the email. Nothing I have not heard a thousand times before. A partisan echo chamber is an extremely boring place to be. I surely learn more from some of these anon rants and raves – and sometimes even the predictable Sporer rants - than from all those D emails. If nothing else, in order to beat your opposition, you have to know how they think.

Here's some nostalgia about the clintons and campaign financing. These were just a small bit of what they were doing. Let's not forget the contributions from chinese operatives that resulted in a great big loss of intelligence to the chinese regarding our weapon systems. Thanks to the dual bills. Clinton and Richardson.

anyway....here's an update.

Without the ability to pass out coveted goodies, like over-nights in the Lincoln Bedroom, invitations to White House coffees and state dinners, trips on Air Force One, weekends at Camp David, lucrative government contracts, top appointments, and the power to sign or veto legislation, their ability to raise money is far less than it once was.

That's one of the key reasons why Hillary came in second in fundraising for the first quarter.

For years, people have wondered whether the Clinton money machine was based on ideology and personal loyalty, or just the plethora of presidential perks at Bill's disposal.

The first quarter results give a resounding answer: It's the perks, stupid.

CBS News Fires Producer for Plagiarism

Here's a factual dispute Sporer can't deal with. He linked to a Drudge claim that CNN reporter Ware had heckled Senator McCain at a press conference. The report turned out to be false. This was relayed to Sporer in his comment section. He has not retracted the post, but other bloggers have retracted their erroneous posts.

where's the report that the story was false? I never saw one. Other than your post, I haven't heard of that. why don't you post it since it seems life threatening to you to have a Clinton News Network democrat propogandist not be accused of heckling a republican politician. after all, that's almost unheard of. a reporter heckling a republican politician? no way...that never happens.

How do you feel about David Gregory from MSNBC or Helen Thomas from the AP?

#3 - Nifong deserves whatever happens to him and I hope he is held fully accountable for his race baiting and tampering activities.

#4 - Considering the civil war ended 142 years ago why is it even nuance and hidden intention seems to be "proof" of a persons racism? I don't think Don Imus is a racist but I tell you what, thanks to the overblown way Jesse, Al, and many "Black" leaders handle these issues I am really starting to categorize Black "leaders" as a whiny lot never missing a chance to race bait.

Anonymous said...

amen 11:04

I think Sharpton and Jesse Jackson have taken race relations back at least 142 years.

We are all tired of being called racists at every single turn.

We are all tired of apologizing for slavery that ended 142 years ago with a civil war that had more casualties than any war since, including this one, and for which neither my ancestors or myself had anything to do with by either creating, sustaining or approving of it.

I am tired of the double standard that allows them to be as racist as they wanna be because it's ok somehow for blacks to be racists. They have a different set of rules of conduct I guess. One that emphasizes color of skin rather than content of character.

Martin Luther King must be rolling over in his grave. The democrats with Sharpton and Jackson leading the way, are completely about race baiting, not race abating.

I want Rap records that denigate women through demeaning use of female slurs - hos - to be banned and denounced for the evil that they encourage.

I want Sharpton and Jackson to apologize to the Duke LaCrosse players for all the racist things they said about those innocent young men who achieved in athletics and school, just like those Rutgers women basketball players.

I want Sharpton to apologize for Tawanna Brawley and every other racist comment he's made and every incident he's created along the way.

I want Jesse to apologize for calling Jews in New York residents of Hymie Town.

I want both to apologize to America for all of their racists crimes and for destroying or at least mangling Martin Luther King's dream, nearly beyond repair.

And lastly, I want Jesse to quit calling himself a reverend. He isn't one. It's just one of his many many lies.

The main point is that you can't depend on Sporer to tell the truth. Even when his error was pointed out to him, he did not investigate or correct his post, when even Powerline eventually did so.

Anonymous said...

As I’ve stated before, I’m in general agreement with many of you R folks when it comes to Al, Jesse & their like. Still, a couple of points.

I would not get too high & mighty about R’s moral high ground when it comes to hate and hateful speech. All you need to do is glance at R blogs. Many R’s appear to be extremely hateful and vile when it comes to even your own, those less than pure ideologically or those not in line with the party/administration line. Of course, an awful lot of hateful speech directed at us D’s. This hatefulness is even more ironic coming from the supposedly moral R side.

I may be reading too much into the semantics here, but when you start counting years since the Civil War you make it appear as things have been smooth sailing for African-Americans since then. We all know that is not true. Getting to even near-level playing field is a relatively new phenomenon in the Civil War - 2007 time frame.

I would also not get too high & mighty about the R approach on equal rights in the last 40 years. It is intellectually dishonest to completely deny the “Southern strategy,” the R “code” speech on racial issues, and the obvious reasons for the complete red-blue flip-flop of the electoral map.

But, you folks do have a very good point. I wish the media gave more attention to the growing number of African-Americans (even Oprah) who are looking beyond the battles of the 60’s.

Anonymous said...

RF,

You can't cover an injustice by pointing out injustices of 100+ years ago. Clearly, the racism exists but I see it without mitigation in the form of extortionist Jesse and pound of flesh Sharpton (both supposedly ministers for Christianity notwithstanding murder and out of wedlock children). Every excuse to go after so called whites is taken. I think the IMUS and the Duke LaCrosse incidents show just how far Black activists will go to tarnish Whites.

I refuse to listen to Black activists claiming endless racism as I am intellectually honest (and I have the History Degree rather than mindless emotion) as a background. Many of my Black friends say the exact things I just said. Supposedly, I can't say such things because I am white right? Wrong, I don't care say what you want and when you do - understand you are proving my point all over again.

Ken,

If you read my posts in this thread alone, it seems to me that you and I more or less agree on the race issue. I suspect I’m in minority in the D party with my views. My previous post merely pointed out some reasons for R’s not to be too self-righteous on this topic or the hatred issue in general.

Anonymous said...

RF,

I know you are a smart fellow and we've agreed with each other most of the time to my recollection. I am simply so sick of the over the top nature racism is now only a "white" offender situation while "blacks" can literally do or say anything with impunity. I don't have any tolerance for PC correctness in the face of what just happened to Imus and the Duke players. We need to stand up and say enough is enough. But instead, everybody is still playing the PC game.

RF, you were not the target of my rant but happened to be how I started my statement since you indicated Blacks have had it hard since Slavery. That is all true but not really true of the last 30 years.

To be honest, what really bothers is the way an outright false accuser on the way to jail for public intoxication (in her mind) decided to fabricate as story to extort rich kids while possibly saving her from jail. Her motives and subsequent actions demand she spend serious time in jail. Instead, she cries victim status and Al Sharpton remains silent (except to get Imus fired). But then again, how do you blamee a snake for being a snake?

Ken

Anonymous said...

Thanks, Ken. I have to say the issue that bothers me with many of us D's/libs is our tendency to go with the eternal victimhood thing. We need to learn when we have made great strides, declare victory, and move on to other issues. This is not to say that racism or sexism no longer exist. However, the government can only take us so far with these types of things.

RF - I'm really dissapointed to see you falling for these "code" conspiracy theories made up by democrats.

Republicans fought slavery, they championed and passed the civil rights legislation about which you speak. The democrats fillibustered it (most especially algore Senior. the D's did everything they could to stop it from passing.

It was Republican President Eisenhower that used the national guard to force integration in democrat Bill Clintons' Arkansas

Bill Clintons hero is noted racist William J Fulbright.

Oh...and by the way, republicans passed the amendment that allowed women to vote too.

Of course, since schools don't teach real history, you wouldn't have learned that truth.

The democrat South wanted to seceed from the nation because of wanting slavery. Those were DEMOCRATS, not republicans. The republican party was born for the purpose of ending slavery, having as it's first presidential nominee, Abraham Lincoln. Republicans ended slavery. We fought Democrats over it.

Demcrats revere their senior senator - Robert "Grand Klealge in the Ku Klux Klan" Byrd. He used the phrase "white nigger" a couple of years back - don't think that was aired on CNN though, so you probably didn't hear about it.

RF - they really overreached this time. We are sick of it and aren't going to take it anymore. We are not racists and we are no longer going to let you guys get away with calling us that anymore.

it's now 40+ years since the discriminatory laws that democrats enacted in the democrat south culminating in the civil rights laws of the mid 60's.

40+ years. There is nothing standing in the way of blacks to achieve than their own lack of effort.

It's getting a little tired. They are clearly passing on the victimhood to their children, because black teenagers claim victimhood brought on by white oppression. FOr that, they should be ashamed. This is a great country with opportunity for everyone that is willing to go after it.

I look forward to your posts illustrating the hate speech that republicans use. We don't engage in protests and get arrested, we don't spray paint buildings, we don't throw pies at speakers, we don't rush the stage and take over to prevent speech with which we are too afraid to hear. we don't burn soldiers in effigy and hang signs saying "fuck the troops". We don't call your leaders Hitler.

I guess CNN must write fiction rather than facts.

Where's the hate from us that you so cling to as reasons to engage in the hateful acts I just described above.

I've never seen bumper stickers from republicans that spew hatred like I see on Democrats cars. Just not there.

Regarding the R hate speech. Start by reading through some Krusty archives and their comments.

Regarding D hate. I would describe it more as anger. As you see the R party and the current administration as clearly infallible, you must be unable to understand the anger. I understand the anger, but I don’t think being angry is a productive political strategy. Thus, I want us to move on. Unfortunately, some people have crossed the line and their anger is turning into hateful speech and actions.

Gotta go now. I’ll be back for more of this fascinating discussion where I clearly please nobody.

Watching Bill O'Reilly interview Rev. Al Tuesday night made me want to jump into the picture and ask the reverend if this case is similar to the Tawana Brawley case. You remember the poor black girl who was attacked by a group of white boys. Rev. Al was all over the TV talking about how the racist boys smeared racial epitaphs all over her body after they attacked her.

Rev. Al wanted "justice." He wanted arrests. He wanted convictions and jail sentences and wanted them now! Sound familiar? The same language he is using in the Duke case. Only one problem: Tawana Brawley made it all up. She lied. There was no attack, and if Al had gotten his way that wouldn't have mattered much because he wanted, no demanded, "justice."

First of all, there is no denying of the shameful racist history of the D party. I will never deny or defend that record.

But why is the R Southern strategy a lie? Why does all evidence point to it? If R’s were and continued to be such heroes, why did African-Americans not turn to R’s in droves after 1960’s? Why did Southern whites flock to R’s? Why did Lincoln Chafee note that “old Southern Democrats have taken over my party”? What is your explanation to all this? Why do you think the complete electoral map red-blue flip-flop happened?

I will give you one thing on the Southern strategy. I don’t think it was necessarily a “strategy” in a sense that Nixon or someone else just came up with it, wrote it down, and the R party then faithfully executed the plan over the years. To me, it was something that in many ways just naturally happened when the D party renounced its shameful racial history and changed direction. When this change with D party happened, obviously segregation-minded Southerners were not happy. They were looking for a new home, and R party was surely happy to see many Southern whites flock to them. Adopting the kind of language on racial issues that was acceptable to these new R’s (I think you can rightfully call it “code”) was obviously important to make this all possible.

Anonymous said...

Our argument about the R & D history on race is somewhat pointless (but I won't avoid it when you R's get all high & mighty about it). It is past, history. The fact is, looking at today’s situation I’m clearly more in line with you R folks on these issues than Al, Jesse and most of my fellow D’s who think we are still in the 1960’s situation. Even after the 60’s, for many years one could definitely make a strong argument for the need for affirmative action, quotas, etc. It’s not like discrimination disappeared overnight. However, by 2007 we have surely hit the point when it is obvious we have entered a new era and that people concerned about African-Americans have to start looking beyond just white racism as the root of the community’s problems.
