A new foreign policy.

While doing a spell check I came across this poem by Lord Byron.

The Assyrian came down like the wolf on the fold, And his cohorts were gleaming in purple and gold;
And the sheen of their spears was like stars on the sea, When the blue wave rolls nightly on deep Galilee.
Like the leaves of the forest when Summer is green, That host with their banners at sunset were seen: Like the leaves of the forest when Autumn hath blown, That host on the morrow lay withered and strown.

For the Angel of Death spread his wings on the blast, And breathed in the face of the foe as he pass'd,
And the eyes of the sleepers wax'd deadly and chill, And their hearts but once heaved, and for ever grew still!
And there lay the steed with his nostril all wide, But through it there roll'd not the breath of his pride;
And the foam of his gasping lay white on the turf, And cold as the spray of the rock-beating surf.

And there lay the rider distorted and pale, With the dew on his brow, and the rust on his mail:
And the tents were all silent, the banners alone, The lances unlifted, the trumpets unblown.
And the widows of Ashur are loud in their wail, And the idols are broke in the temple of Baal;
And the might of the Gentile, unsmote by the sword, Hath melted like snow in the glance of the Lord!

Sounds like a good foreign policy.

Hi Ted!

It figures a guy like you would admire Byron. Lord Byron's fame rests not only on his writings but also on his life, which featured extravagant living, numerous love affairs, debts, separation, and allegations of incest and sodomy. He was famously described by Lady Caroline Lamb as "mad, bad, and dangerous to know." Speaking of which, what do you hear from Larry Craig these days? Oh that's right, you're taking a "wide stance" on that one aren't you?

We need a grown-up in the White House! Mark Klein now more than ever!

Bob, Sporer is talking about killing all of the Islamic radicals like a Biblical plague and you think it makes him sound decadent or homosexual?

What would Sporer say, "A mental hospital Bob, maybe something you ought to think about".

Dr. Klein can help lead your anger into a more healthy form of meglomania.

From the Crime Section of the Register today. A dutiful, loyal member and relative of the South Side Democrat Criminal Machine a.k.a. the Iowa branch of the Democrat Culture of Corruption, State Senator Matt McCoy goes on trial today. It sounds just like an episode of the Soprano's, but with a low level thug instead.

Here's a snippet from their full story:
____________
Prosecutors say McCoy used the power of political office to intimidate partners.....

Court papers show McCoy's lawyers intend to argue that tough talk on the FBI audiotapes amounted to an attempt to build trust with his business partners.

Leonard, according to documents, "will testify that from the defendant's point of view, these conversations are consistent with 'standard American business conversation.' "

Does affirmative action work?

An explosive study that suggests it does not is pitting the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights against the State Bar of California in a battle over admissions data that could determine once and for all if racial preferences help or hurt minority students.

"Currently only about one in three African-Americans who goes to an American law school passes the bar on the first attempt and a majority never become lawyers at all," says UCLA law professor Richard Sander.

Known as the ‘mismatch’ effect, Sander claims students who are unprepared and whose academic credentials are below the median are admitted to law schools they are unqualified to attend.

Molly Ball of the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports that Senator Harry Reid's favorable rating in Nevada has "plunged dramatically," according to a new poll.

Currently, Reid's favorable rating is at 32%, while his unfavorable rating is at 51%, a net 23-point drop from the last poll taken in early May when Reid scored a 46/42 favorable/unfavorable rating.

Ball reports this is the first time Reid's unfavorable rating has eclipsed his favorable rating. It also puts him below the favorable ratings recorded by President Bush ...among others.

Pollster Brad Coker of Mason-Dixon offered a wry observation of Reid and Limbaugh's similar ratings:

"That's how polarizing Harry Reid has become. But Rush is trying to be polarizing. Reid just does it anyway."

Falling numbers of state dentists in England has led to some people taking extreme measures, including extracting their own teeth, according to a new study released Monday.

More typically, a lack of publicly-funded dentists means that growing numbers go private: 78 percent of private patients said they were there because they could not find a National Health Service (NHS) dentist, and only 15 percent because of better treatment.

Here's my California Bar exam story. In the late 1980s for intellectual fun I took the BARBRI course. Was one of the greatest learning experiences I've had.

Never attended law school but was such a skilled landlord pro per litigant the tenants' bar often steered clear of me. Made it expensive to fight because I did my own depositions, filed blizards of motions, served voluminous discovery requests, and if sued, cross complained in pro per so the insurance company providing the primary defense couldn't settle without my consent. On more than one occaision they bought out my cross complaint to get a settlement. Insisted I get more than plaintiff. Have I got a collection of war stories!!

My guess was about 1/2 the class had previously failed the bar. One fellow in the group I hung with failed several times. His reply to my enquiry why he failed was "They keep changing the questions!"

At the end of course I passed a sample bar exam. The real upside was my son who graduated from a top school couldn't have faced me had he failed the bar exam! Passed the bar on his first try. Wasn't the California bar but why be picky?

Did Klein find a NH county chair's blog on which to post all day?

Not yet, Mr. Wild Onion, not yet. But I will.

The blogosphere is how I developed my all volunteer campaign team.

If I make to the "big time", that is get some national media coverage, my numerous daily blog entries on globally read outlets like the New York Times, the Jerusalem Post, Haaretz, etc will get lots of middle of the road votes without which the GOP can't win.

The GOP should put me on the nationally televised debates if only to show we really are a "big tent" party. I'd be the "Cinderella Candidate" who'd take the spotlight off Clinton.

People like me and my message. I'm picking of young people in Des Moines volunteering to hand out my literature after pitching them my message I'm the only candidate who's really cares wages about with buying power, affordable housing and college tuitions, stable families, and putting domestic policy first.

They see me as the father or grandfather many wish they had.

Know what always gets a big knowing laugh? Telling folks "We need a National Shrink in the White House!"
