…………and finally, thanks Mike Huckabee.

Given the overwhelming coverage the Dem primary is receiving, thank God Mike Huckabee is still in the race.

If Huck had already dropped out, would our likely nominee get any coverage at all?

thanks huckabee? i think this is just getting out of hand. seriously, there's no way he can win. it's no longer about keeping the rhetoric up, it's about him selling books (ala cayman islands).

he needs to get over himself and just get out.

Anyone who thinks Obama is Muslim needs to have a brain transplant. I'd suggest a self inflicted 9 mm.

Need you be reminded that in 76, Ronaldus Magnus was in much the same situation that Huckabee was...

People kept calling for him to withdraw.."for the good of the party"... Reagan knew better. He knew that by quitting..he was quitting on the people within the Republican Party that he knew were the foundation of the party...

1980 comes..and Reagan leads a 49 state sweep into the White House..

Huckabee isn't doing anything harmful to his career or his reputation. He's not sniping at McCain..he's not bashing GOP voters for supporting him..

If McCain doesn't win in 08..
Huckabee is setting himself up well for a potential 2012 run..

Personally, I'd love to see someone like Huckabee as RNC Chair..he's someone who can effectively COMMUNICATE a message..

That's one thing thats been sorely lacking in our national efforts..effective communication.

don't you have to be a republican first to be the RNC chair?

Anon 11:48.. Sounds like you're a bitter Team Romney member..

Too bad. Your guy got beat by someone who spend 1/10th the money you did in Iowa..

To quote Borat...NIIIICCEE!!

way to stick to your talking points 3:48

Hey, don't worry about Team Romney. They just all got new jobs at RPI immediately upon being let go by Romney. They ain't bitter.

Anonymous said...

Yeah..they got new jobs..and guess what..They will do what they do best..

LOSE ELECTIONS.

Huckabee will be around for another election if things don't pan out with McCain. Huck will also drag the party to the right a bit which is always good.

since 6:38 is so smart, can you name one, just one person that worked for romney that's now working at the party?!

See deace, there ISN'T one!

take your crazy conspiracy theories elsewhere.

Um... Stu Iverson..the new state chair....

Gee..that was hard. :)

paid staffer. that's what everyone's freaking out about, not stu.

nice try though

Anonymous said...

does Stu get $7500 a month from the Party like he did with Romney?

Anon 11:44

No Stu does not get $7500 a month from RPI but he is paid. As for staffers, Stu has not yet replaced Laudner or Robinson.

Replacing the Executive Director will require approval of the SCC so we'll have to wait and see what happens.

Anonymous said...

Well..does that mean that Stu should have sought the approval of the SCC before firing Laudner and Robinson?

I've heard that Stu is bringing in Caleb Hunter to be the ED. hunter was the Political Director for the 2006 Cycle.

All should be in place after the SCC retreat this weekend.

Good question. I would think so. But from what I'm hearing, that's not what happened.

Did Stu really get $7500 from Romney. Gee, I bet he'll work really hard to get McCain elected.

Anonymous said...

Um, Caleb doesn't really stike me as leadership material. This could be a really bad year.

The RPI Chair is usually paid $2500 a month.

I'd really like to know if Stu has the authority as Chair to summarily fire the Exec Dir and Political Director...

If its true that hiring a new ED and Pol Dir require SCC approval..then one would have to assume that SCC approval is needed to terminate their employment as well.

On that note..Anyone hear about anyone new running for SCC this year?

Anonymous said...

The Chair doesn't need any premission to fire anyone, but needs it to hire the ED. Stew had every right to do what he did, like it or not.

As for the SCC elections I hear McGee from Waukee is running in the 4th, and Iverson wants Ted off the committee. So I take that as he is recruiting.

Anonymous said...

LOL..

I find it hard to believe that Ted Sporer will get voted off the SCC...he's done far too much in Polk County..and that county wouldnt be ANYWHERE close to where it is now without his leadership...

If Stu wants to get on the right track right off the bat..recruiting someone to knock off Sporer of the SCC is not the thing to do..

That's going to create a lot of unnecessary friction...Not the thing you need to have going into a difficult election cycle.

Isiah McGee is a good man and a strong leader..he'd be an huge asset to have on the SCC along with Sporer

Todd Versteegh is running in the second district.
