Evening Update: Hamas declares Carter visit a diplomatic victory.

Wow. TRS usually isn’t validated within twelve hours so today is a little landmark. Jimmy Carter provided Hamas with a diplomatic victory today, as predicted. The liberal spin on this one should prove interesting.

Be sure to read the entire article.

Carter’s absurd irresponsibility extended not merely undermining the national policy of his own country toward a long time national enemy, with much American blood on its hands (yes, this is traditionally known as “treason”), but actually works to undermine Israeli security as well.

Jimmy Carter might just be the most despicable American politician to have lived since the death of James Buchanan in 1863.

Nitpicky I know but Buchanan died in 1868 not 1863. Realize precision is not a hallmark of law.

As Southern states declared their secession in the lead-up to the American Civil War, he held that secession was illegal, but that going to war to stop it was also illegal. Taking his own advice, he did nothing.

A fine example of a Democrat and directly responsible for allowing slavery to exist. Of course Jimmy one upped him by meeting with our terrorist enemy Hamas. Well at least Jimmy can claim success because he got the hostage released and Hamas at least pretended to renounce violence. Wait, I made that last part up so it turns out he accomplished zilch. Much like his Presidency unless we count the many SNL skits performed in his honor.

As usual, art the laymen, shows us his depth. He spent his free time actually checking a factoid of no consequence to the conversation. A liberal progressive can be spotted through their most often used tactic of distraction of the point.

Thanks for that interesting, but irrelevant contribution, as usual.

Most despicable since James Buchanan? Hardly, pal. Nothing eclipses the way that fink Nixon sold us out to the red Chinese. Going over there and sucking Mao's dick (by proxy with Cho En Lai). Shit, get your facts straight, Spearer. And another thing, tell me exactly what Israel has done for us lately? What have they done for us lately? Honestly, Spearer, what? Billions and billions we've poured into that sand box, and for what? Guess we'll have to wait until you get your pal Mark Klein on the phone before you can answer that one, huh, Ted?

Anon 6:41 (presumably mr. KKK)

Can you explain why Only Nixon could go to China and the significance of that statement?

Or do you prefer we ignore bad guys who happen to have the world's most populated nation? Is that policy realistic and who, besides you, has a problem with having an Embassy in China?

If one can't get even the simplest of facts correct, how can we trust the validity of the rest of their rant?

Ken R said...

Art,

Have you considered it might be a typo?

TRS's argument obviously assumes that slavery is abhorrent and since (Democratic President) Buchanan did nothing to address the issue when it came to the national forefront he is despicable. Perhaps you don't find Buchanan’s reluctance to end the enslavement of African Americans to be despicable?

On the other hand, Jimmy Carter is giving Hamas an immense propaganda victory by meeting with them. Hamas, known to enlist mentally disabled children as bombers,
believes the only solution to the “Jewish Problem” is to wipe Israel off the map. Where have we heard talk like that before? I think “Despicable” is about the best way to describe Jimmy Carter’s decision to drink tea with these murderers.

Yeah - 8 and 3 are soooo close to each other on the keyboard. Why let facts get in the way of a rant? No - that would require your gop messiah to admit he made a mistake.

Perhaps you should revisit your American History. Slavery was in the national forefront at the time of the writing of the Declaration and before. The consternation in trying to solve it was what lead Jefferson to use the wording, "All men are created equal".

Slavery was abhorrent at its origin. The fact that our founders allowed it to continue is the gravest stain on our founding. Should we be proud that the writers of our Constitution allowed them 3/5 of a person?

Am not a defender or detractor of Buchanan. He is long since dead. According to most experts he is not as bad as Warren Harding and in some instances Nixon.

As for Carter; assume he was trying to do good. You guys and your constant haranguing about feeding Islamic propaganda is laughable. Whatever we do will feed their propaganda. We ain't winning hearts and minds of those folks even when Karen Hughes was shilling.

sporie likes to employ his ad hom crap to stir the conservative peabrains.

Uh oh, that was a typo, I meant minions.

Art, how many times have you been to Iraq since the invasion? What do you know about the Iraq and the Middle East other than what the Lilly Left news media feeds to you? Let me guess, by your logic WWII, Korea, and Vietnam were also pointless wars since it was doubtful they would ever occupy the USA. So an arm chair general, sitting in his old man stroller, who never fought for this country presumes to speak of such weighty matters? Perhaps Art should just sleep under the blanket of freedom provided without opening his worthless pie hole.

So now you have to visit Iraq to have a valid opinion on it? Sorry Sporie - you're no good. Iraq will be a success when Bush, Cheney, or Rice can make an ANNOUNCED visit to Iraq and not end up on the receiving end of a thousand suicide bombers. Doubt that happens anytime soon. We've successfully handed over control of the Middle East to the Iranians for the next 50 to 100 years.

Ken R said...

So explain why crowds in Iran routinely chant "Death to Ahmadinejad?"

kennie:

My! My! Let's wrap ourselves in the flag and conjure up that old saw that, "I served, you didn't, therefore I know better than you!". "My dad can beat up your dad!"

First of all we weren't explicitly talking about Iraq although I would assert the same there. That there are a handful of Iraqis who may appreciate the US presence, without considering handouts, they do not a majority make.

Iraqi officials and much of the populace play us like a fiddle.

In the rest of the Middle East we are laughed at. To many we are a necessary evil because as hated as we are we do provide security for the Saudis, the Jordanians, the Kuwaitis, etc.

Of course, in addition to the flag and the uniform, we trot out the constant conservative harangue of the "left wing media" and their collective conspiracy to hide the truth. Get real kennie.

There was no guarantee that we were safe from invasion in WWII. Korea, started as a Cold War tiff with the Soviet Union, we probably had to get involved simply because our actions there after WWII helped create the problem.

Vietnam? Perhaps you can explain to me why it was necessary to get involved there and more importantly what did we achieve, after losing 58,000 lives, and that's just of ours.

In your role playing you sound very much like, Colonel Jessep, I'm sure one of your heroes. Next up I expect to hear, "You can't handle the truth!".

Get over yourself kennie. That you wear the uniform is admirable. It gives you minimal insight into the bigger picture. You, as with all of us, know little more than what we hear from the media.

It is often a failing of the military to understand that in this country we are allowed the freedom to say what we think. There are rules in the military that may limit your speech but they don't apply to me.

I did notice that you dropped your slavery bullshit. Might be a good idea if you used your mind to do something other than energize your mouth.

Damn! Could it be that I am an "ignorant slut"?

Ken R said...

Somewhere in Chapter 2 of Art's book he wrote:

"That you wear the uniform is admirable. It gives you minimal insight into the bigger picture."

In "All Quiet on the Western Front" the men at the local pub drunkenly told the war vet that his perspective was innaccurate because he was too close to the front. Sounds like Art thinks the same way.

Of course anyone who pole smokes like Art is loosely classified a man.

The most despicable American politician to have ever lived is out campaigning for his wife right now.

Art,

I think the Pole Smoker comment, while offensive as heck, probably has something to do with a variation of your name. Just a hunch.

Art A Layman said...

kennie:

Thanks for the elucidation but it wasn't keeping me up nights.

Few things that are so obscure can be offensive. I would think you would have realized by now I do not get offended easily.

I have no insecurities regarding my masculinity and the musings of some imbecile are not going to raise any.

Did I wake up in soviet union? Do we not have the freedom of speech?

I guess the Patriot act really did step on our rights, if a former president can not speak to whom he wants about what he wants
