Can the Gray Lady blush?

Remember the NY Times story that implied that John McCain had a girl friend on the campaign trail? The story ended up lacking even the pretense of substance. The front page story was based on anonymous rumors that an affair could have existed if the alleged femme fatale had been given freer access to the Senator. Not one witness existed that could corroborate the sensational implications so ballyhooed by the Times.

On the other hand, the Times had nary a word about the Edwards affair. Neither did the AP, CBS, ABC, the LA Times or the big three news mags. Since NBC no longer holds out its news division as non-partisan that network’s silence was unsurprising.

The National Enquirer broke the Edwards story. Although rumors of the Edwards affair and its biological by-product have been pandemic, the Enquirer delayed publication until it had well documented sources generated after a year or more of journalistic gum shoeing. I recall from college that is called "journalism".

Will the new levels of irony, hypocrisy and dishonesty to which the NY Times has sunk finally make the Gray Lady blush?

The funny part is Libs are trying to turn this on John McCain by pointing out he married another woman too quickly upon his return from Vietnam. You have GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!!!!!!! Edwards does the dirty and McCain is the one getting flack from libs?

Kudos for the Enquirer and I think Obama is about to get flushed in November. I have many relatives who vote Democratic and they can't stand Obama.

I read that Reagan's first wife was the one to divorce him (did she cheat on him?). What was behind McCain's divorce?

Wow,

A double post of the EXACT same thing by anon 9:09. Much like Barak Hussein Obama's oft repeated talking stump speech it seems liberals believe repeated lies carry more weight.

I think John Edwards will end up marrying this girl because his ambulance chasing millions are toast when this girl goes for child support. John Edwards proved himself no smarter than a host of professional sport athletes who also fathered children out of wedlock.

NYT really messed up on this one as did every newspaper in the state of North Carolina.

I'd bet that Jesus wishes, in your case, he could take it back.

Art,

Do you mean the real Jesus or your false Messiah Obama?

Art A Layman said...

kennie:

Both would wish the same.

Art,

Just for fun, can you tell us your view of God and how it differs from Marx and Lenin?

Art A Layman said...

kennie:

Not completely sure about Marx and Lenin but believe they were atheists.

My view: If God exists, especially consistent with most Christian theology, then He/She is doing a piss poor job.

On gender, likely, if existing, God is a He because it's doubtful a She could screw things up this much.

One sure thing, if God exists He certainly would not be a conservative.

Are we having fun yet?

Art,

I rest my case...

Exactly,

Art A Layman said...

Your statistical sampling skills could use a little work.

Ken R said...

Art,

The rest of America, as opposed to bleeding heart liberals, are not going to vote for Obama just because he's black. The guy has no resume except for a few votes which show his extreme liberalism.

Tell me, how is Obama not a Marxist based on his limited record, associations, and statements? Hillary exposed him for his inability to win when confronted with real issues.

Obama impression.

"Well, ahhhh, ummmm, I, ummmm, think......HOPE, CHANGE, GLOBAL WARMING,CORPORATE GREED..."

How are Obama's statements any different than Alec Baldwin in Team America?

Art A Layman said...

kennie:

Hmmm...Political analysis isn't your bag either, is it?

Hillary didn't confront Obama with real issues since for the most part their policy proposals were the same. She achieved her success in the latter part of the primary by being herself and focusing on the issues of the working class and women. A little pandering didn't hurt; the gas tax holiday?

You will see later that John McCain is no Hillary Clinton.

Ken R said...

True,

One was a war hero and the other is a man hating socialist.

Art A Layman said...

kennie:

War hero or more specifically prisoner of war hero does not Presidential timber make.

Having been a rebel, maverick, all my life, I am well aware that rebels are not problem solvers. We have an ability to condemn and shoot holes in many other's solutions but we are often devoid of answers in our own right. McCain exemplifies the premise.

I bet if you went to the original writings of the books of the bible, you would find a translation error. Everywhere that God or Jesus talks about sinners, they surely really meant socialists.

As for man-hating; if we look throughout history at the mess "men" have made of things, perhaps hating them is not misguided.

Ken R said...

Art,

As usual, you have no concept of what it takes to be a man or a leader. John McCain went above and beyond at every stage in his career to include jumping from his parked jet to help fight a fire on his aircraft carrier and enduring unspeakable treatment while a P.O.W. when he had a chance to leave early. His conduct under the most dire circumstances tells more about him than anything else.

The man hating venom from many Hillary lovers is not worth a lot of commentary but suffice it to say such a leader is only a little less abhorrent than Nobama!

McCain is not the best politician but he is a heck of a man and leader. I will support him over the pseudo Socialist Hillary and the real Marxist Obama.

Please, please get to the base psych before it's too late!

Ken,

You really need to get a grip and not believe every Obama is an anti-Christ email that gets into your email box. You may also want to brush up on definitions for words like “socialist.”

I was reading about Obama’s visit to Israel. The initially apprehensive and questioning Israeli pols were very impressed. Apparently they are looking forward to possibly having the opportunity to deal with an intelligent US president who appreciates the complexities of the world.

I’ve also seen quite a few reports from different sources about Obama’s apparent popularity – at least compared to many other D’s - in the armed forces. How do you feel about that?

Ken R said...

RF,

You know I respect you since you are not an off the deep end liberal and actually apply thought and logic to your statements.

Whether world leaders accept Obama better than McCain depends on the leader is my guess.

As for Obama's popularity among troops I think that is overstated and I see no evidence on the ground in Iraq. Based only on the news I hear his supporters within the military tend to be African American which mirrors the country.

Art A Layman said...

kennie:

Folklore is a wonderful thing. McCain left his "parked" jet because it was in flames. He did, to his credit, although I doubt an unusual action for most fighter pilots, go to aid a fellow pilot when an explosion injured him. He did not get out of his "parked" jet to help fight a fire.

McCain certainly was a man of fine character, even though he often disdained military regimen and protocal, when he was younger. He's had some fits and starts as a politican but all in all has had an admirable career.

There are many, Bob Dole was another, who, when seeking the next level, become perfect examples of the Peter Principle.

To your "man and leader" comment; the macho mentality required of the military in a combat zone can serve to obliterate any sense of intellect beyond achieving the immediate objective. Likely when you return to a more normal civilian life stripped of your rank and supporting heirarchy you will begin to learn what being a real "man and leader" is all about.

Facing a mundane everyday life, raising a family, maintaining a marriage, all without the aid of a weapon to serve as an extension of your penis can often be the real test of manhood.

One might be interested in what you "hear" if one didn't get the sense that you only "hear" what you want to "hear".

Art,

Your pointless blather connecting male anatomy to leadership styles is informative and probably great advice for people with Sh*t for brains.

Art A Layman said...

kennie:

My, my! The level of your diatribe knows no bounds.

Your grasp of the English language falls far short of what one would expect from a vaunted military officer. Alas, it takes all kinds.

Could it be that our best and brightest are not necessarily exemplified by the officer corps?

Ken R said...

Art,

Do us all a favor and look up Misanthropy and let us know if your picture appears next to the definition.

Art A Layman said...

kennie:

Oh my! How long did it take you to find such a big word?

You need to understand that distrust of idiots is a far cry from distrust of humankind.

Those who present logical and fair criticisms of issues or persons can be trusted to have some intellect.

Whereas those who must pin their discussions on vitriolic labels and peevish insults and fail to exhibit an ability for rational thought are not only to be not trusted but are to be pitied.

Art A Layman said...

kennie:

And that last is regardless the stars and bars on their shoulders.

Ken R said...

Art,

Your social adjustment issues are no excuse for your boorish insults. If you could only learn to channel your pent up anger in more constructive ways and form logical arguments in support of liberal positions I could respect you a bit. RF makes points with logic and his posts are infinitely more readable than yours. You dislike what we say and resort to childish tantrums to drown out opponents. I assume that hysterical crying worked with your mother but you should have learned more effective ways to get your point across as you grew into adulthood. I suspect your teenage years were pretty awkward and college had to be pretty lonely given your level of socialization.

I notice you particularly relish going after me based on my time in the military. You do not limit your condemnation to my service rather you indict all military professionals with your antagonistic vision of what we represent. Moveon.org tried the same tactic against general Petraeus and it backfired because the American public knows an obvious lark when they see one. This country was not built on the backs of people like you since you only get in the way of those who produce.

I want to sum up my view of you with one word….PATHETIC!

Art A Layman said...

kennie:

And now I rest my case!

I don't go after you based on your time in the military. Its only because you so often wear it as a badge which attests to your manhood and self worth.

If I were to wish to question your military actions I might focus on, based on your previous disclosures, your leaving the military and going back to Iraq as a privateer.

BTW, who's whining now?

Ken R said...

Did you forget about the male genitalia reference to guns? You bashed my service in the military several times and it has been a reoccurring theme for you. I realize you have to get the last word because that is your immature argumentative style but do not for a second believe your nonsense carries the day. If you are going to lie at least have the intelligence to do it in a new thread.

Whining? I just wish nimrods like you would put your money where your mouth is and come over to Iraq so you can see how far your B.S. goes. Even the Iraqis would fall over laughing at your punch drunk statements. You are a coward carrying on in the “Spit on the troops” protesting tradition of your Vietnam anti-war predecessors.

Art A Layman said...

kennie:

That is one thing I always admired about you; your mature, adult-like dialogue.

I've just been waiting for you to put on the finishing touches and see if you can make it all make sense.

Yeah Ken, hide behind that "my service in the Military" schtick at every turn. You're not "in" the military, you're an officer (if your screen name is to believed). A starched shirt bullshit artist that only shows up after it's all safe. You behind the lines creeps, in your air conditioned comfort, who never did nothing, are always the ones to crow the loudest. Shit, pal, where are you stationed? The way you talk, you're on the front lines in Iraq. So where are you really, Ken? Guam? Tokyo? England? Or maybe over in Germany? Fat chance of getting your nuts shot off there, huh? Hey Man, I applaud your service to our Country, I detest your lies however.

Ken R said...

Loser Liberals!

Ken R said...

Actually,

It is has always been more dangerous in Democratic dominated cities like Detroit and D.C. than war zones. Therefore, I am actually safer in Iraq than the socialist debacles created when Dems take charge of a city. By the way, how is the "Hip Hop Mayor" of Detroit doing these days? Ah, that stuff is just too funny to ignore and even funnier is the fact Dems and African Americans still rally behind the guy. How many dead strippers will it take them to realize the truth about this guy?

The conclusion of the matter is you Libs are self-destructive in every way while Conservatives carry you along like dead weight. Attacking us in our traditionally strongest areas of religion, morality, and national defense is the latest tactic but it is doomed to fail once we expose your attacks to the light.

I love the picture of Obama and the racist reverend. How do you libs feel about the old "Chickens are coming home to roost" pastor? I sure hope he has a few more statements to make this fall.

Art A Layman said...

kennie:

Gotta say, if you are representative of our military leadership core we are in big trouble and for the continued existence of our country you better hope we Dems take back control.

Am surprised based on the intellect you exhibit that Dumbya didn't appoint you Secretary of Defense.

Ken R said...

I think it recently came out PRESIDENT BUSH (libs should try respecting the office once in awhile) had better grades than Senator Kerry.

Art A Layman said...

kennie:

Your analysis of grades would suggest that education is not your forte either.

I respect the "office". It's the current dimwit residing in it I have a problem with.

Anonymous said...

How come you didn't answer that guy as to where you are stationed, Ken?

You seem to infer you are in Iraq but you've never really given a straight answer on the issue.

Interesting........

Ken R said...

Art,

I am at Camp Liberty, Iraq that is the headquarters of the entire show. I am next to the Baghdad International Airport (BIAP). I don't discuss operational specifics for my company or the military because those issues are prohibited by regulations and company policy.

You know, you are such a genius!!!!!!

Art A Layman said...

kennie:

I didn't ask where you were stationed. I just sleep better at night knowing you are not over here.

Boy oh boy, Ken, for somebody supposedly right there in the thick of it you sure do have an awful lot of time on your hands to be serial blogging in here the way you do.

Ken R said...

I love it when Libs can't win on the issues...they go to anything they think can work.

If they LOSE (AS ART DOES EVERYTIME HE POSTS) he resorts to anonymous responses for additional support. The only thing his anonymous posts have in common with him is his me, myself and Irene multiple personality disorder.

Art A Layman said...

kennie:

Did you learn your impressive investigative abilities in the military? If so, no wonder it's taking us so damn long to get done with Iraq.

One would surely not accept your judgments as to who won or who lost in our blogging fencing match. In fact, one would be inclined not to accept any judgments from you regarding most anything.

I never resort to anonymous postings. I, like you, am an egomaniac and should one of my posts turn out to represent the wisdom of the ages I want to make sure my name is on it.

Engaging the likes of you in verbal tiddledywinks does not require additional support. On occasion you might want to take your head out of your butt and gaze upon reality for a change.

The insecurity of your physical surroundings is surpassed only by the mental insecurity revealed in your blithering utterances.

It must be frustrating to realize that once the war is over and you return to our hallowed shores, your talents leave you ill equipped for anything other than a Rent-a-Cop position.

Ken R said...

Art the layster,

What are your talents? What have you ever done that makes your life noteworthy? For that matter, I bet a Rent-a-Cop position would be a promotion for you.

You really talk a lot of trash for a guy who does not know anything about Iowa. You purport to be hyper-educated but lack understanding in every academic arena. Your simply a has been lib who hates the United States in everything you say and do. You remind me of George Costanza in the way he tells everyone he is an architect, which is great except he is perpetually unemployed. George is not an architect either but at least his brand of charlatanism is humorous while yours is boorish.

Art A Layman said...

kennie:

Are you suggesting that your service in the military, while admirable, makes your life noteworthy? That totting a gun, maybe killing people, barking orders, assures you a place in the annals of the history of man? Ambition should be made of sterner stuff.

I don't know that I have any talents that exceed those of most. As I stated above, all I've done was raise a family, maintained a marriage for 45 years, provided decently for my family and muddled through my mundane existence. Certainly not noteworthy.

I knew I was making a mistake in my quest for knowledge, when I decided not to take that course on Iowa Studies. Little did I know at the time that it held the keys to universal wisdom.

I don't recall that I ever purported to be hyper-educated. I have a decent education but, again, nothing noteworthy. Does it surprise anyone that with your superior intellect you would determine that I lack understanding in every academic arena? It might better support your premise if you exhibited any capacity for understanding the meaning of "academic".

What is really impressive is your reference point for analytic comparison. Many have extolled the educational enhancing value of watching Seinfeld or the plethora of other TV shows that add to intellect through osmosis. I believe most academicians recommend watching all the TV you can. Of course there is the question of whether you could even understand Seinfeld, especially given your fixation with George.

You really should consider altering your diatribe or finding another hobby. Currently you are reflecting horribly on the reputation of military officers. Could it be that you were no more than a Private or Corporal and are now just living your own TV fantasy? Maybe it's as simple as you drink while you blog.

Ken R said...

Art,

I failed to see what you did for a living in your very brief list of accomplishments. It really does not matter anyway because any accomplishments might be fictitious considering you thrive in anonymity. You may as well Harry Freaking Reid (I hate that guy) since you have his same illogical and self-serving positions. Of course, Harry hangs out in D.C. and last we heard you hail from N.C., which is close but no cigar. No matter, your silly positions and less than interesting prose while espousing your unending lunacy simply mean you are a pest with a computer. If you were from Iowa, I could at least appreciate your interest in this website. I may detest whack job libs like you but I do not look for them in places I will never live. Only a loser would do what you do if you are who you say you are.

Art A Layman said...

kennie:

I thought we established a long time ago that I am retired. Although only after a lifetime of paying taxes to support a military that hires and promotes idiots like you. What a waste of money that was. I at least expected a little more bang for my buck.

I came to this website at sporie's invitation, one which I'm sure he wishes he could take back. Though not interested in most of the Iowa issues, sporie occasionally posts on issues of national importance and I keep up because I know he will need some clarification of his views.

As with all websites you run across intellectual wannabes like you and engaging in a little back and forth keeps the mind fresh. Oh yea, I much prefer an adversary with a tad more capability than you have but we don't always get what we wish for, so you'll have to do. You don't offer me much intellectual exercise but I get a lot of laughs from your inanity.

Now I don't know that I ever said who I am, other than who I say I am, but if I'm not who I say I am then you'll never know who I am if I'm not inclined to say who I am.

I can leave you with just this solace: "I think, therefore I am".
