Goodbye Jim Gilmore

Former Virginia Governor Jim Gilmore terminated his Presidential campaign today. Jim Gilmore did a number of local events and the crowd always came away impressed. It is an unfortunate reality that the primary process has become suppressed in time and content. Perhaps the world of 24-hour news has made celebrity the sine qua non of Presidential qualifications.

Gov. Gilmore has much to offer the public dialogue. Gilmore’s homeland security ideas are first rate. We certainly need more rather than fewer good ideas in our party, and our need to recover Virginia is urgent, so let’s hope he does stay active in Virginia and national politics and policy.
