Jerk of the Week Contest?

Jerk of the Week is back. This week’s finalists are two very dissimilar contenders, I think.

Candidate number 1 is former Deputy Secretary of State Richard Armitage. Through the last three plus years his silence has allowed American foreign policy to be damaged-adversely effecting every person in this country-and allowed the liberal media and the Democrat hate mongers to impugn the integrity and reputations of so many public servants, starting with the President himself.

Armitage has always known that he was the “leak” in the Valarie Plame affair. Armitage and Pat Fitzgerald have long known that there was no knowing or intentional disclosure of classified information. Armitage has even known that almost all of Joe Wilson’s public statements were utter fabrications or distortions of reality.

But not one word to set the record straight came from Armitage. Friends were being destroyed-silence. The Islamofacist press used Wilson’s lies as propaganda to reinforce their war on America-silence. Someone Armitage knew to be a complete liar was lionized as a hero of integrity-silence. Public disclosure that you were the leak-more silence. If that’s not a jerk, what is?

Candidate number 2 is the collective administrations of every university or other group that has invited former Iranian President Mohammed Khatami to speak. Only in the nihilistic post modern world of American academe` could someone conceive that American tax dollars should be spent promoting the views of a man who promoted global jihad, tyrannized his own population, supported the murder of hundreds of Israelis, armed terrorists right round the world, and diplomatically aided the 9.11 conspirators.

The Chair of Harvard’s Government Department defends the invitation “because all voices should be heard”. Yeah, but not on my dollar! This would be like inviting the Nazi propaganda minister Joseph Goebbels to share the Nazi principles of ethnic superiority and the corollary attacks on President Roosevelt’s WW2 policies as the product of the wealthy Jews who were FDR’s puppet masters. There simply is no logical or even historical justification for tolerating any tax money, and every university is heavily dependent on tax dollars, being spent to promote the evil ideology of Islamofacism.

Yet, the highly unpatriotic and self-loathing America academia embrace the spokesman of a regime that’s stated objective is the annihilation of Israel and the defeat and disgrace of the country that provides these intellectual degenerates the freedom to invite Khatami to speak in the first place.

It’s a tough choice tonight, but I’ve got to go with Armitage. We know we cannot really expect anything more from our “intelligentsia” but we should from our own Under Secretary of State.

Who’s your nominee?

The Downtown Showdown

First was the “Thrilla in Manila”. Then, “Rumble in the Jungle”. Now, in little ol’ Des Moines, comes “The Downtown Showdown”!

Tomorrow on Des Moines’ own 98.3 WOW FM, at 1:30 Des Moines educational reformer Jon Narcisse is debating none other than the King, the undisputed champion of the failed social services and corrupt local government, Imam Ako Abdul Samad.

Wearing the Red, White and Blue trunks, recently reconditioned and now in fighting trim, what Narcisse gives up in media profile and the deep pocket backing of limousine liberals he makes up for with facts, logic and a bulldog commitment to reforming America’s collapsing educational system and social services network. Jon Narcisse is at the forefront of a new generation of African-American leadership that rejects the soft bigotry of low expectations.

Wearing the Green and Yellow Trunks, in honor of the Hezbollah flag, is Imam Ako Abdul Samad. Ako has become the darling of liberal left in Des Moines, because “he cares.” Millions of your tax dollars have been poured into Ako’s Creative Visions program, with no tangible results, but limousine liberals measure Ako’s worth in entirely intangible values-“he cares”, “he helps people”, leaders turn to him when there’s trouble in the community”.

Isn’t that the problem with liberal politics? The liberal social policies have destroyed the black family, destroyed inner city education, excused failure of any kind, tolerated if not promoted social pathogens like wide spread drug addiction, illiteracy, and street crime, while discouraging employment, educational achievement and marriage.

Above all, it’s a system that is based on corruption, and Ako is the poster child of that corruption. So I’m not looking at Ako to go down faster than Monica Lewinsky on pizza delivery night at the White House but my money is on Narcisse in an old fashioned out knock out!

Frogs, walking or the Ludicrous Lies and the Lying Liberals that tell them

We need a frog walk today, and I for one want to see it covered on CBS.

We now know that virtually every statement, beyond his name, contained in Joseph Wilson’s famous editorial, and his many subsequent statements, was false and knowingly false. The Senate Intel Committee blew almost all of it away, in a story conveniently overlooked in the Rove/Libby bacchanalian feeding frenzy of the last three years.

The Vice President’s office did not send Wilson to Niger, his no longer covert CIA bureaucrat wife Valarie Plame did, as she had done in 1999. Wilson had no evidence to support his claim that the Veep’s office had anything to do with selecting him. How many times have we all seen Wilson repeat the lie that Plame had nothing to do with his trip?

The President and Vice President were not briefed on his report-a complete lie that was essential to the attack he made on the State of the Union.

The report not only didn’t conclusively show Saddam wasn’t trying to purchase uranium in Niger, the parts Wilson failed to mention showed Saddam did try to buy “yellow cake” but the Nigerese refused to sell it to Iraq. The President's statement was literally and substantively true!

Wilson entirely fabricated his claim that the Niger “yellow cake” threat was based on forged documents. Wilson has actually retracted this claim and acknowledged his “misstatement”.

At the time of the “leak” of his wife’s name she was no longer cloaked in secrecy. Not in all of the millions Fitzgerald has now spent identifies one person who violated any law regarding the unauthorized disclosure of any secret information, including Plame's identity.

But the worst and most grotesque aspect of the Wilson/Plame episode was the adoration the glamorous couple received from the Main Stream Liberal Media and their sycophantic echo chamber in our schools and universities. Headline after headline was hurled at the body politic depicting our wartime President and Vice President leaking the name of a secret agent, who was heroically fighting the war on terror, to punish a truth telling whistle blower, and to do so for purely partisan reasons. How many First Amendment and "Courageous Speech" awards did Joe Wilson win?

Not even in the ball park of truth. Rove and Libby didn’t orchestrate a leak, they somewhat inadvertently confirmed what is now acknowledged as the purely accidental statement of a guy, Richard Armitage, who was the antithesis of a partisan hack, and who actually opposed the administration’s Iraq policy. Plame's name was not generally considered classified or even confidential information in political circles. The Wilson/Plame gang had themselves disclosed Valarie’s employer weeks before the Novak column when Joe Wilson couldn’t resist self aggrandizement by dropping his wife’s CIA status in various Green Rooms around the District. Of course, the parking place at Langley with “V.Plame” on it could also have tipped foreign spies of her relationship with the CIA. Wilson, on the other hand, was a radical partisan, who worked for John Kerry and said “it’ll be a cold day in Hell when I vote for a Republican.” That is what passes for a non partisan centrist in today’s media environment.

So, we need a frog walk here guys, we need one very, very badly.

REALITY MATTERS

VOTE REPUBLICAN!

P.S. That idea about boycotting CBS I proposed at the 2004 Convention makes a lot more sense in the wake of the fabricated Bush National Guard story with its ties to the Kerry Campaign, the refusal to cover the discovery of hundreds of chemical weapons shells in Iraq and the whole incredible tale of Joe Wilson I think.
