Weekend Homers!

The Real Sporer doesn’t pander, but he does cheer a great effort. Our Cong. Steve King followed up his home run speech on the consequences of the Democrat “peace at any price” approach to Iraq with another media push for English only.

The definition of leadership is knowing what you believe and persuading others to agree. This is the logical and geometric opposite of learning the public’s appetite de jure and gratifying it. Cong. King again lays out a good case and takes it to the public, to educate and persuade.

Most poignant and personal for me was the following passage from one of the plaintiffs, an immigrant from Cambodia.

"We never even considered the notion that America should accommodate us by learning our native language," Alons said. "It was simply common sense and respect that we learn the language of our new country."

How true. My grandparents spoke Greek, my wife’s Danish, but all knew that English was the language of their new country. This isn’t anti-immigrant, it is the time proven track to American greatness.

The dumbest argument, our new Governor Chet Culver, who claims that foreign language ballots are necessary to secure voting rights yet the ability to read and speak English, is a prerequisite for citizenship. Citizenship is, of course, a prerequisite to voting. A pander bear cannot hide it’s spots.

So, back to back home runs for King, and a shameless display of liberal jabberwocky by our new Gov. Culver here at The Real Sporer.

Sporer, why don't you and King join forces and put a stake in Harkin's heart?

Here here!!! Sporer glad you're back.

I do think though that you and CC and KK should disable "Anonymous" messages. It's really quite counter-productive as 75% of Anons use it to bad-mouth each other.

I'm not saying there shouldn't be some sense of privacy as most hopefully don't know each other by our self-given I-net names, but I think there should be some sense of accountability for what is said on here and ESPECIALLY the other childish blogs I have seen. I say what I think but if I ever offended anybody, I wanted them to know who said it rather than cowardly hiding in the shadows of anonymity. I challenge everybody that if you have to feel good by badmouthing other Republicans, show some class and use your name.

P.S. Now lets start badmouthing the DemocRATS for their assault on life, liberty and the Right to Work!!!
Thanks,
Chad Brown

Things that make you think a little:

There were 39 combat related killings in Iraq in January.

In the city of Detroit there were 35 murders in the

month of January. That's just one American city,

about as deadly as the entire war-torn country of Iraq.

When some claim that President Bush shouldn't have started this war, state the following:

A. FDR led us into World War II. Germany never attacked us; Japan did.

From 1941-1945, 450,000 lives were lost ... an average of 112,500 per year.

B. Truman finished that war and started one in Korea. North Korea never attacked us. From 1950-1953, 55,000 lives were lost ... an average of 18,334 per year.

C. John F. Kennedy started the Vietnam conflict in 1962. Vietnam never attacked us.

D. Johnson turned Vietnam into a quagmire From 1965-1975, 58,000 lives were lost .. an average of 5,800 per year.

E. Clinton went to war in Bosnia without UN or French consent. Bosnia never attacked us. He was offered Osama bin Laden's head on a platter three times by Sudan and did nothing. Osama has attacked us on multiple occasions.

In the years since terrorists attacked us, President Bushhas liberated two countries, crushed the Taliban, crippled al-Qaida, put nuclear inspectors in Libya, Iran, and North Korea without firing a shot, and captured & killed a terrorist who slaughtered 300,000 of his own people. Oh yeah Saddam's sons who raped and murded thousands themselves, we killed them too! More you say? More you'll get. More than 103 top ranking terrorists have been killed or captured.

The Democrats are complaining about how long the war is taking. But it took less time to take Iraq than it took Janet Reno to take the Branch Davidian compound. That was a 51-day operation.

When considering presidential candidates, remember the time that it took Hillary Clinton to find the Rose Law Firm billing records.

It took less time for the 3rd Infantry Division and the Marines to destroy the Medina Republican Guard than it took Ted Kennedy to call the police after his Oldsmobile sank at Chappaquiddick

It took less time to take Iraq than it took to count the votes in Florida!!!!

Our Commander-In-Chief is doing a GREAT JOB!

The Military morale is high!

The biased media hopes we are too ignorant to realize the facts

But Wait . there's more!

JOHN GLENN (ON THE SENATE FLOOR)

Mon, 26 Jan 2004 11:13

Some people still don't understand why military personnel do what they do for a living. This exchange between Senators John Glenn and Senator Howard Metzenbaum is worth reading. Not only is it a pretty impressive impromptu speech, but it's also a good example of one man's explanation of why men and women in the armed services do what they do for a living. This IS a typical, though sad, example of what some who have never served think of the military.

Senator Metzenbaum (speaking to Senator Glenn): "How can you run for Senate when you've never held a real job?"

Senator Glenn (D-Ohio): "I served 23 years in the United States Marine Corps. I served through two wars. I flew 149 missions. My plane was hit by anti-aircraft fire on 12 different occasions. I was in the space program. It wasn't my checkbook, Howard; it was my life on the line. It was not a nine-to-five job, where I took time off to take the daily cash receipts to the bank."

"I ask you to go with me ... as I went the other day... to a veteran's hospital and look those men ... with their mangled bodies in the eye, and tell THEM they didn't hold a job! You go with me to the Space Program at NASA and go, as I have gone, to the widows and Orphans of Ed White, Gus Grissom and Roger Chaffee... and you look those kids in the eye and tell them that their DADS didn't hold a job. You go with me on Memorial Day and you stand in Arlington National Cemetery, where I have more friends buried than I'd like to remember, and you watch those waving flags. You stand there, and you think about this nation, and you tell ME that those people didn't have a job? What about you?"

For those who don't remember: During W.W.II, Howard Metzenbaum was an attorney representing the Communist Party in the USA. Now he's a Senator!

If you can read this, thank a teacher.

If you are reading it in English thank a Veteran

In response to the Chad Said. JFK did not start the Vietnam War in 1962. Eisenhower was the first president to commit US Forces in Vietam after the French got their asses kicked in 1954.

Hey, Sporer! Off topic here, but just wanted to let you know I got a new bumper sticker on my car. It rhymes with Osama. Love it! - I was not offended by your quip about the Senator’s name. It was kind of funny. I haven’t been following the blogs too closely lately, but it seemed to me that the only people upset about your joke were the R folks at Cooler. Interesting. Looks like we D’s have infected some of your people with the hypersensitivity syndrome.

did you finally "move on" from simply being a bush hater to having hope? That's a nice change. :))

Doesn't it feel good to let go of the hate and embrace hope?

With Osama you get hope. With Hill, you get hate. Check out the latest war of words between them. Clinton punched first in typical hateful fashion.

I just wanted to prove the point that I can come up with hateful stuff with the best of them. One can make a very compelling case about R unpatriotism (is that a word?), if one wants to. But I know it's not true. I wish you realized the same about us D's.
