Poll Update

The dynamic nature of the Presidential race continues. All kinds of polling news out today, most all good for Mayor Rudy Giuliani. But the Straw Poll is in August and the Caucuses are in January of next year. Since we didn't get the fun of running against Howard Dean, I don't think that anyone is placing too much certainty in these early polls.

The Real Sporer believes that Condi Rice really is serious and isn't going to be persuaded to leave wonkdom for pure politics. Too bad, she'd be a killer against the Dems when we started talking about the real world.

However, with one out another jumps in. Cong. Ron Paul, a libertarian kind of Republican has "unofficially" entered the race. While not well known, Cong. Paul seems like a very interesting guy with much to offer the public debate. Ron Paul demonstrates the Republican good fortune of a large resevoir of ideas and talents in the face of the shallow constellation of anger, resentment, disingenuity and deception that masquerades for leadership across the aisle.

Welcome to Iowa Cong. Paul. Your supporters can now display their love by voting for you on the Real Sporer internet poll to the right.

Most Libertarians are supporting Rudy Giuliani for the GOP nomination. Very latest poll numbers show Giuliani at 53% and climbing among likely GOP voters, with Ron Paul static in last place at 1%.

Ron Paul lost his supporters with his leftward turn against the War on Islamo-Fascism back in 2002/3.
Paul thinks that if we just leave the Middle East, surrender to the Islamo-Fascists, and stop supporting the "real culprit" Israel, than the Islamo-Fascists will just leave us alone.

How naiive. They'll be on our borders lobbing scud missles at Brownsville, El Paso, Tucson and San Diego faster than you can say "Allahu Ahkbar."

Rudy understands the threat of Islamo-Fascism. Ron Paul is just an appeasor.

Interesting post. Thanks for the background info. Rudy is doing well in Iowa too, including social conservatives. The recognition of the need to rid the world of islamofascism is trumping all other issues. The Libertarians and the Social Conservatives have this in common, which explains to me why Rudy is surging.

I can only see Newt and Rudy doing a Reagan/Gorbacheve face to face with Adminijahd (sp). with both Rudy and Newt coming out the winner. I can't see the others in that situation.

Despite the early organizational strength of the Romney and McCain teams in Iowa, the polls would tell us that it isn't helping either candidate in Iowa.
