An interesting coincidence?

On Friday, May 18 Fred Thompson comes out hard against the Senate immigration compromise. May 19, Fred wins big in a straw poll of delegates at the Georgia State Republican Convention.

This could be coincidence, it could be a proximate result of many things but Thompson took a position on a controversial issue and something good followed, at least in the short term.

Perhaps because Sen. Saxby Chambliss (R) didn't get the greatest reaction to his support for the immigration "compromise" at the GOP convention there.

Boos, hisses greet defense of immigration reform bill

Thompson should do well in South Carolina (my former state) too cause Lindsey didn't get a very good one either...

South Carolina's senators divided on immigration at convention
