Thanks to............

............. the Bull Moose Club, 21st Century Forum and all the other groups for allowing me to semi-debate Gordon Fischer tonight. Thanks also to Gordon for being my huckleberry and for being such a damn good sport at the dance.

It was great fun and hopefully informative to the audience. I truly appreciate this and every opportunity to lay our world view next to the Dems.

Pelosi made a big deal about her first 100 days. She was quite emotional about how much they were going to get done.

The only thing they've done is raise the minimum wage - which really only affects part-timers at McDonalds and Union contracts and which does NOT help illegal immigrants, but.....I guess they've done more than we've given them credit for as Jon Kyl from AZ points out in this quote:

Mr. Kyl did offer an apology for calling this a do-nothing Congress, saying that because Democrats had sent Mr. Bush legislation naming 20 postal facilities, it should be called the post-office Congress.

NEW YORK—Newspaper publishers New York Times Co. and Tribune Co. reported lower advertising revenues for the second quarter on Wednesday as the industry struggled with deep losses in several categories, especially classified.
The Times, which also owns The Boston Globe, the International Herald Tribune and a group of regional newspapers, posted a 6.9 percent decline in newspaper advertising in the period, while Tribune's fell 11.2 percent.

Chicago-based Tribune is the nation's No. 2 newspaper company by circulation and publishes 11 newspapers including the Los Angeles Times, Chicago Tribune and Newsday.
