Bush Derangement Syndrome-Iranian Chapter.

The release of the most recent National Intelligence Estimate regarding Iran was greeted by the liberal press and the Democrat politicians they serve as another weapon in the war on George W. Bush.

The first and most important consequence of the NIE conclusion that Iran ended its nuclear weapons development in 2003 is the disclosure of further fruits of the Iraq campaign. Qaddafi’s Libya abandoned and verified the abandonment of its nuclear program largely due to the Iraq invasion, also in 2003. The NIE, whatever else its conclusions, attributes the Iranian decision to a vaguely defined international pressure. Has not the application of international pressure on the Iranian government been the cornerstone of the Bush Iran policy?

What could have provided the most visible signs of US pressure than the blitzkrieg occupations of Afghanistan and Iraq? It scared the WMD right out of one the major terror leaders of the last thirty years and there weren’t 200,000 Coalition troops and 10,000 aircraft surrounding Libya. The rather obvious conclusion is those 200,000 soldiers and 10,000 aircraft would have had a most cathartic effect on the deepest of the Iranian nuclear bowel.

If the liberal goal has been to cause Iran to abandon its nuclear weapons program without war it appears we have achieved a great diplomatic victory in Iran. If so, has not Bush denied anther rogue state, and one that routinely discusses its desire to destroy the Great Satan, of the ultimate weapon of mass destruction? Why have the shallow demagogues of defeat and despair across the aisle not joined in declaring even a small victory?

The answer is found in the second major flaw of the liberal response to the NIE. Rather than discuss the real world implications of the NIE, t he liberals can only scream “Bush lied”. Not one liberal has posed inquired as to Iran’s purpose for continuing to spin those centrifuges into weapons grade plutonium. The NIE also concludes that the Iranian program could be readily restarted, which would provide a purpose for stockpiles of weapons grade plutonium.

Why have the liberals in the press and government so completely endorsed the conclusions of an intelligence community after attacking that community’s efficacy for the last, well, thirty or forty years? If the CIA really was wrong about WMD (which I doubt) why does the liberal mind believe that the CIA is right about Iran? This is particularly problematic in light of the discovery of a far more advanced Libyan program than Western intelligence had previously discovered.

The answer is simple, neither facts, nor logic, nor context, nor history mean anything to an ideology that views anything that deprives them of the power to implement their bizarre and self-loathing socialist agenda as inconvenient truth. (What level of projection is revealed in Al Gore’s Nobel winning docu-drama about global warming?)

ATLANTA (AP) - Civil rights icon Andrew Young says Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama is too young and lacks the support network to ascend to the White House.

In a media interview posted online, Young also quipped that Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton has her husband behind her, and that "Bill is every bit as black as Barack."

"He's probably gone with more black women than Barack," Young said of former President Clinton, drawing laughter from a live television audience.

'The downside of the two Clintons is more complicated.

What worries me most is that Bill Clinton's political history is unfinished and that, as First Laddie, he would have an opportunity to add another (unelected) chapter -- by shaping his wife's presidency in a way that burnishes his own legacy.

Then there are his extensive foreign contacts -- a potential benefit but also a danger. What person on Bill's global Rolodex wouldn't think he had a special "in" at the White House?

Off topic. But to be fair to Romney, my sources are now reporting a Romney sign has appeared on his state director's yard in the last couple of days. Not that it's going to help his apparently tanking campaign in Iowa.

What more likely happened about the Iranian nuke issue was there are just no buyers for another war. Cooler heads feared a rattled Iran with its fanatical, inexperienced leadership might do a preemptive "dirty warhead" missile strike across the region even hitting Israel and parts of Europe. Conventional warheads laced with high level radioactive materials with fuses set for air bursts could destroy a city by making it uninhabitable for decades, or even centuries.

Ted--"What could have provided the most visible signs of US pressure than the blitzkrieg occupations of Afghanistan and Iraq?

ME-Act in haste and regret at your leisure.

Re Romney signs not many in New Hampshire. Ron Paul's the big sign fella but I working to catch up.

Met up today with a very sour Tancredo chair while handing out brochures in a politician friendly restaurant. Got pretty squirrelly seeing me there.

Taking off shortly for my "night shift" campaigning. With very little money and staff gotta campaign the old fashioned way by actually meeting and greeting voters.

Big money campaigns nowadays peddle atavars not candidates. I may be the only candidate not living 24/7 in a 2nd Life political campaign game. Sure could use some of those Linden dollars which I believe are gaining against Uncle Sam's funny money.

Adieu for now.

Anyone taking bets as to how many votes that shitbag Klein will get in Iowa and New Hampshire??

I'm going out on a limb and say under 50

...This question I have after picking up the 1998 book "Year of the Rat: How Bill Clinton Compromised U.S. Security for Chinese Cash" by Edward Timperlake and William C. Triplett II.

It's a detailed account of presidential perfidy in, essentially, making available White House access, policy secrets, supercomputers and military technology (including advanced rocket-guidance technology) to China even as a rogue's gallery of Chinese communist agents, spies, arms dealers, pimps and gangsters were pumping massive infusions of cash in Clinton campaign coffers.

For starters, shouldn't Hillary Clinton at least have to explain how, as president, she would ensure that these compromises to national security that happened on her husband's watch wouldn't happen on hers?

I'd say yes, of course, and much more. In other words, this is no time to close the book.

The current version of the illegal chinese money scandal involving the clinton campaign is really surreal...kind of in a "back to the future" sort of way.

Mr and Mrs Soprano know what they are doing.

Perhaps Mr and Mrs Soprano are Maoists at heart and are sympathetic to China's need to conquer Taiwan.

Unlike Rudy-Romney, Mr. Huckabee showed up for the PBS presidential debate held at the historically black Morgan State University in September.

Afterward, he met Cornel West, an Obama supporter who deeply disagrees with Mr. Huckabee about abortion and much else. I asked Dr. West for his take last week.

After effusively praising Mr. Huckabee as unique among the G.O.P. contenders, Dr. West said: “I told him, ‘You are for real.’ Black voters in Arkansas aren’t stupid.

They know he’s sincere about fighting racism and poverty.”

There's a war on George Bush?

Sporer still believes in WMD?

The end of the nuke programs in Libya and Iran are BOTH the direct result of the Iraq invasion?

Give us a break, Sporer. It's the weekend.

Anonymous above asked how many votes I'll get. Likely more than the 47 John Cox got at Ames for spending $2 million thus far.

I'll never really know the Iowa caucus count. The Iowa GOP is the 21st century version of Boss Tweed's Tammany Hall or Richard Daly Sr.'S Chicago.

My fantasy of the caucus process before I started was it was a real test of ideas and candidates as the is really the case in New Hampshire primaries.

The Iowa caucuses may have started out straight but over time the Iowa GOP decided to manipulate the system to play king maker in part to suck as money as possible out of the candidates. Poor John Cox is a great example. In contrast to me he had no chance at Ames but his $15,000, in contrast to mine, was too sweet to pass up with no risk he'd upset the fix.

My guess IS the caucuses are rigged to ensure Huckabee wins.

WASHINGTON (AP) Obama is a member of the United Church of Christ and says he has never been a Muslim, but false rumors attempting to tie him to Islamic jihadists are circulating on the Internet.

"Let us all remain alert concerning Obama's expected presidential Candidacy," read the e-mail. "Please forward to everyone you know. The Muslims have said they Plan on destroying the US from the inside out, what better way to start than at The highest level."

The Clinton campaign has decried the rumors as offensive and outrageous, and last week forced volunteer Jones County coordinator Judy Rose to resign after learning that she forwarded a such an e-mail on Nov. 21. But it turns out Rose wasn't the only one.

Linda Olson, a volunteer coordinator in Iowa County, had forwarded a similar version on Oct. 5, without comment, to 11 people. One of the recipients was Ben Young, a regional field director for Democrat Chris Dodd's campaign, who provided a copy to The Associated Press on Sunday.

They were asked to explain why two people connected to the campaign would have forwarded similar e-mails and if the campaign was taking steps to find out if it's more widespread,....

Democrats admit it was all a big confidence (BIG FAT LIE)game.

Monday, December 10, 2007 12:01 a.m. EST

"Democrats are committed to ending years of irresponsible budget policies that have produced historic deficits. Instead of compiling trillions of dollars of debt onto our children and grandchildren, we will restore pay-as-you-go budget discipline."--Speaker Nancy Pelosi, December 12, 2006

Well, as Emily Litella, the half-witted Gilda Radner character on Saturday Night Live, would have put it: "Never mind."

Last week Congressional Democrats formally renounced their ballyhooed budget pledge to offset any new tax cuts with other tax increases or spending cuts.

'But paygo shouldn't be allowed to expire without everyone kicking sand on its grave. That's because it has been nothing but a confidence game from the very start.

Paygo doesn't apply to domestic discretionary spending, and it doesn't restrain spending increases under current law in entitlements like Medicare and Medicaid.

Its main goals are to make tax cutting all but impossible, while letting Democrats pretend to favor "fiscal discipline," a la Ms. Pelosi's boast above.

Anonymous said...

In fact, the paygo farce has been unfolding all year.

Since the day they took the gavel, Democrats have been using gimmick after gimmick to evade it.

The Schip bill for health care, for example, includes a spending "cliff" that disguises its actual cost.

It assumes spending would rise to $14 billion in 2012, but then pretends the costs would fall to less than half that level in 2013--which just so happens to fall outside the five-year budget scoring window.

Some $60 billion in spending over the next 10 years were hidden through this ploy.

Anonymous said...

Then there is the House farm bill awaiting action in the Senate.

That spending marathon includes between $5 billion and $10 billion in fictitious paygo savings by shifting the date of farm aid payments from one year to another. If a Fortune 500 CEO did that sort of thing, he'd be indicted.

Anonymous said...

House Democrats realize how humiliating this all is, so they're still vowing to make paygo work.

Especially embarrassed are the so-called Blue Dog Democrats for whom "fiscal discipline" is a coat of political protection.

John Tanner of Tennessee is so upset he says the Senate paygo abdication "is bordering on criminal," and about 30 Blue Dogs are threatening to vote against AMT repeal without offsetting tax increases.

They'd have more credibility if they also opposed the various fiscal gimmicks in the Schip and farm bills, not to mention the 2008Congressional budget outline that exceeded President Bush's budget request by $22 billion.

Anonymous said...

The larger relevance of this episode concerns the 2008 campaign.

Hillary Clinton in particular has made paygo a major campaign theme because it makes her sound like a fiscal conservative while helping to justify tax increases.

But, lo, guess who was missing on Thursday when the Senate voted 88-5to ignore paygo on the AMT?

None other than the candidate herself, along with Chris Dodd, Joe Biden and Barack Obama.

To quote another Saturday Night Live character, "How convenient."

Mr. Bush, and especially the GOP Presidential candidates, should be using this paygo collapse to explain to Americans what a charade this Democratic line is.

The 2003 tax cuts expire in 2010, and paygo will make them all but impossible to extend. Now's the time to bury paygo for good.

Abandon paygo at this juncture will bring a rapid national bankruptcy and the dissolution of the United States in the form of the North American Union.

We're very much where the Soviets were in the 1980s bled white playing global dragon slayer plus its version of a Potemkin Village economy. Ours is a service economy manned of millions of Americans just barely making a living wage.

Published this on today's New York Times Deal Book blog.

"The situation was resolved by the politically expedient further devaluation the dollar which kicked the ball further down the road. Barring a political miracle the United States facing bankruptcy will effectively dissolve within the decade by activating the North American Union.

The Soviets didn’t have our options when bankrupted by war, global dragon slaying, and its Potemkin Village economy, so it simply imploded into a number of independent states.

I'm the only Republican candidate who can save the tax cuts. Better believe in a Klein administration things will be paygo. Will order the immediate orderly removal of our forces from Iraq and Afghanistan. With the money saved the tax cuts are salvageable.

Doc,

Why do you always refer us to things you published in London, Tel Aviv, and other exotic places that have nothing in common with Iowa save for the internet?

Also, if you've written off Iowa as you previously wrote why do you continue to blog on Ted's website?

At least Klein isn't fixated withthe Clinton's private life and private parts like most of the fringe on this site. I think Klein's positions have some validity. he makes more sense than the other GOP candidtes! I love the bravery of the GOP candidates on Univision. They all were mealy mouth when talking about immigration with the exception of Tom Tancredo who was too afraid to even appear!
Love those tough talkin GOPers when the going gets tough they all soil their pants! Right Senator Vitter?

From the AP:

Citigroup, the country’s largest bank and one of the biggest casualties of the turmoil in the credit markets, named Vikram S. Pandit as its chief executive Tuesday.

That's funny because Mark Klein posted in here that he had told the boys at Citi to appoint someone else. I can't understand why Citi didn't do what Mark Klein told them to do. Could it be that Mark Klein's justr a fucking liar and does have as much pull as he's led us to believe? Say it ain't so, Mark. Say it ain't so!
