More of the real Drama, Barack compares Sen. Coburn to terrorists.

Last night Barack Obama actually sought to justify his friendship with William Ayres by comparing it to his relationship with Republican Senator Tom Coburn.

Sen. Coburn is a physician who has, I believe, been twice elected to the United States Senate. Will Ayres is a terrorist who has admitted bombing the Pentagon and, I believe, the Capitol. Ayres as repeatedly indicated that he regrets not doing more damage to the American government-and his context meant actual physical damage and mayhem.

Obama’s analogy of Sen. Coburn and Ayres was the former’s advocacy of a law that could impose the death penalty for doctors who perform elective abortions and Ayres previous terrorism.

We have an expression for that kind of thinking, its called “moral relativism”. The analogy provides even more clarity to the Drama’s real thought process. While, unlike many in politics he is willing to socially cross the aisle and befriend Republicans, a degree of magnanimity that is in itself refreshing, his politics and mind set remain that of a dogmatic liberal who simply finds conservatism as dangerous and evil as terrorism.

C'mon! You gotta be brighter than that, although admittedly I see no empirical evidence to support that assumption.

This was not "moral relativism" because he was not equating the actions of the one with the actions or beliefs of the other.

His point, as you well know, but like all good conservatives you never let the truth interfere with inane analysis, was that his distaste or disagreement with their actions or beliefs is not the determinating factor in his appreciation for another individual.

You cannot abide the thought because it is anathema to you to consider anyone a friend who holds polar opposite political views from you.

It is an example of the peevishness of the conservative mind. "Mind" here may be an inappropriate term.

Is also interesting that you find Obama's reaching across the aisle as refreshing when many of your cohorts view McCain's similar behavior as abhorrent. Perhaps "socially" is the operative word.

A conservatism that is willing to go to war, where innocents die, on the flimsiest, if not drummed up, evidence, might very well be moving along the continuum toward terrorism. Wrapping one's self in the flag does nothing to ameliorate the terror inflicted on the innocents involved.

Sporer,

Frankly, a pathetic post. If you can't take this kind of stuff, you really need to get out of politics. You will always get your feelings hurt. And another reminder for you to read your own blog for prime examples of real personal attacks, insults and twisted logic.

Wow - the Kool Aid is thick as syrup around here.

Art or Mark or whoever you are what makes you think everyone who posts something about you is me? Just because you have multiple personalities doesn't mean I do.

BTW - I laughed my ass off when I read the ignorant S_ _ t comment. I thought it was pretty good and appropriate given your petty personal attacks. When I finally get back to DSM and attend a Central Committee meeting I hope the author of that one self identifies so I can buy him a beer.

yeah the ignorant slut remark was funny the first few times on SNL in 1975! the trouble with ted and Ken is they are stuck in a Nixon type mindset. Their ideas and solutions were tried before and were proven to be corrupt and unworkable but they keep going back to the old joke, the old domino theory and the same old scare tactics. it is fitting that the GOP headquarters is in a former Funeral home. They are all stiffs!

Will Rogers? Is that you? You are not very transparant as Mary Louise and Ghost and all those other echos from a distant past - you know from Camelot.

Time to wake up Rip Van Winkle. The 70's have been over for almost 40 years now.

Your time is past.

If memory serves Mary's posts are usually out there like Pluto.

Have to admit I found the "ignorant slut" comment funny as well. It was funnier when Ackroyd said it though.

Careful when laughing your ass off for it's clear that is often where your head resides.

Never been a believer in camelot or anything else that was labeled mystical or mythical.

Kennie Boy, you may think my statements are out there on Pluto, it is probably because you wait for Ted to speak, belch or pop a zit, so you can post on his brilliance. it must be hard to have to depend on ted for all your opinions. I will have reverend jimmy Dodson, haggert hagee pray to heal your brain so that you don't have to wait for teds permission to go to the bathroom.

There's Mary again...offering us an abortion of a comment.

Will - why do you focus your alter egos on abortionists and rectum holes? It really tells us a lot about your character. Your hero Ghost Ford never was elected and lost in a primary to a guy who won 49 states.

Mary Sphincter Ford Rogers - you are only a ghost of an interesting human being.

i don't expect you to get it sheeple! gerald ford was a representative who won multiple elections and served his country wth duty and honor! i don't expect the typical Sporer boy to understand those virtues.

Mary,

"gerald ford was a representative who won multiple elections and served his country with duty and honor!”

Does serving as President of the United States count for anything? I would think his status as President deserves a little more than an un-capitalized name minus his high office. Also, I thought the Code Pink/moveon.org crowd hates those serving our country so why are you pretending to respect President Ford?

Kenny Kenny kenny;
gerald ford was my representative. I voted for him. His only error was pardoning Nixon. he should have let justice work it's course. it led to people like Cheny, Bush and sheeple like you having no respect for the law.
You see kenny Your thoughts aren't correct. You think that anyone who disagrees with you is Code Pink/ Move On what ever that is supposed to mean. Just because the Rethugs have never served their country or volunteered for anything doesn't mean that we , the people haven't served. As for respect. I love the way the GOP respect our military families by cutting their BA benefits after they have sacrificed.
kenny boy Come back when you have served!

Mary Mary Quite Contrary how does your Rose Colored Garden Grow?

I served in both Iraq and Afghanistan as an Army Captain. I spent most of the last four years as a contractor in Iraq so I feel pretty qualified to comment on the war. The military is not cutting benefits to our brave servicemembers and in the few cases that made it to the public eye they quickly corrected problems. As for the GOP cutting BA benefits? What is a BA benefit?

Art A Layman said...

kennie:

Your explanation begs the question of what of those cases that did not make it into the public eye?

Ken R said...

Art,

Clearly you don't know what the heck Mary was talking about, not that she had a firm grasp either, and you're just throwing a question from the available information. Get out of your wheelchair for a minute and do some research before asking silling questions.

Furthermore, I am still waiting to know what "BA Benefits" the GOP has voted against as referenced in Mary's post. The only BA I can think of was the character on the A Team. From my perspective, it sure seems people who don't know VA stands for Veterans Adminstration probably don't know a lot about US military issues or the War on Terror beyond left leaning media.

Art A Layman said...

kennie:

Now who is it that cannot determine a typo?

Admittedly I was querying about your post not about the entire issue. I asked the question because, once again, you conservatives make open ended statements, i.e., ...and in the few cases that made it to the public eye they quickly corrected problems, assuming that your words should end all inquiry.

You are not in the military anymore. None of us have to salute you nor accept your proclamations as a shut the f--- up order.

The government is forever correcting problems only after they make it to the public eye. Some problems don't make it there; at least not before tremendous damage has been done.

Brevity can be a good thing but often reveals that the espouser has no briefs or no brains.

Ken R said...

I doubt Mary had a typo, but I love how you stated a simple typo from Ted invalidated his entire post.

Anyone who would write "None of us have to salute you nor accept your proclamations as a shut the f--- up order" has probably never served in the military because nobody talks that way. Once again you are demonstrating how clueless you are about such matters. You remind me of a bad Hollywood war movie complete false stereotypes and bad acting.
