Oh, look, another Pro US/Pro Bush European Leader Wins

Busy night tonight so we don’t have time for a long post. We did, however, notice that one of W’s closest European allies regained power in Italy.

Silvio Berlusconi won
a landslide in Italy, one of only two European nations where the pro US/pro Bush candidate was defeated after the Iraq invasion.

But hey, I guess our allies hate us now, that’s what Barack says.

Once again, surely Italians went to the polls to cast their ballot as a verdict on W. Just like your November ballot will be a referendum on Berlusconi. The names on the ballot might be McCain and Obama, but your vote will have nothing to do with those two fellows when you have world leaders to judge with your vote. Never realized you were such an internationalist.

italy is not known for their stable governments but they do have a way to throw the bums out in a hurry! italians vote on Italian issues. let the Italians vote Bush in as 70% of Americans don't want him. Berlusconi is different from Bush as Berlusconi actually ran successful corporations.

I agree with 5:01. Let's trade Berlusconi for Bush.

Dear Vlad

I knew that under the skin that you thought like the rest of us progressive liberals. Glad you joined the club

Always interesting how conservatives cherry-pick the actions of our European buddies to hail.

Most of the time you guys think they have their heads where the sun don't shine.

Objective analysis is always a sight to behold.

C'mon Sporer - if you can't do better than this don't even bother to post. That is just embarrassing.

Embarrassing to whom? What a dumb thing to say. You should see a shrink about that low self esteem that causes you to become embarrassed by something someone else does.

I'm embarrassed to be on the same blog with 4:56.

Actually, no. Bush has been a complete failure and has left many of us with such a severe case of buyers remorse that we are no longer buying what the Republican Party is selling.

More spending, bigger government, zero control of our borders, new entitlements, economy in the tank and skyrocketing gas prices. This has been Carter 2.

This election is a no-brainer:

McCain-86 lifetime from the ACU (and that has been dropping like a rock)
-McCain/Feingold
-McCain/Kennedy
-McCain/Lieberman
-Wanted to be Kerry's running mate

Bob Barr (Libertarian)-98 lifetime from the ACU
-House Manager of the Clinton Impeachment
-NRA board of directors
-coauthor of the Defense of Marriage act

Kim "I'm really a guy, really I am" Schmett has $70.00 (that is not a misprint) to beat the democrats so far.

Hahahahahahahahahahaha - Is Dale "Keg" Karney doing his fundraising?

3rd DISTRICT: Rep. Leonard Boswell, a Des Moines Democrat, faces a primary challenge from former state Rep. Ed Fallon, a Des Moines Democrat. The winner will face Kim Schmett, a Republican from Clive.

• Boswell reported $260,277 in receipts, including $118,000 from PACs. He spent $121,611 and has $840,945 cash on hand.

• Fallon reported $171,618 in receipts. He spent $151,885 and has $19,733 cash on hand.

• Schmett had $70 in receipts, no spending and $70 cash on hand.

Gee - how come no one ran on this platform before? Maybe Lamberti would be a Congressman now if he'd thought to us this approach. Did his super campaign manager come up with this or did Kim "really, I'm really a guy" Schmett come up with that?

"Schmett, 55, says the district needs a representative who will fight for lower taxes, fiscal responsibility and more quality jobs for Iowa workers."

Kinda sounds like Kim Schmett is for government provided healthcare. I noticed at caucus that Terry Brandstadt has a new cause - government covered health care.

The rest is more recyled babble that we've been saying since Terry left office a couple of decades ago. Maybe it will work this time.

How about the war, how about gas prices and energy in general? How about the Trade deal that the Democrats are trying to kill? How about Israel? How about Iran? How about anything that is going on in 2008!

He sounds like he's running for the Iowa house, not Congress.

Who IS advising him?

"I will be a leader in making sure our communities are safe, our schools are accountable and that health care is readily accessible.”

‘‘Everybody wants to talk about change this year,’’ Schmett said. ‘‘Simply throwing the word change around is not enough"
--

He says this as he recycles 20 year old slogans for his role in Congress. What is new about Kim Schmett? Nothing. What is new about what Kim want's to do? Nothing.

Schmett said he was confident he could raise enough money to make his campaign competitive, likely between $800,000 and $1 million.

Well on his way - Only $730,000 - $999,930 to go!

Who is his fundraiser?

Anonymous said...

oh darn - didn't do the math correctly. (ISEA Public school educated, I'm afraid).

Only $799,930 to $999,930 yet to raise.

I'm sure that will not be hard to do. He's made me all fired up with those goals. I'm sure others will eagerly open their checkbook to such high ideals.

We have almost no crime rate, we have plenty of access to healthcare and we have a 3.5% unemployment rate - which is considered full employment.

So, Thanks Kim for fighting for issues that aren't even issues for Iowans.

Fire Up!!!!!

I heard that former ganske gofer Will Rogers is his campaign manager.

Will has made an unexpected and unusually timed re-entrance into the party after years of absence.

Connected?

The Greg Ganske gang returns! Will and Kim both worked for Greg "I'm really a republican, really" Ganske.

Interestingly enough - back when Greg was a Congressman, he was kinda for government provided healthcare - not much of a republican I call back then. I think I first heard the term RINO during Greg's tenure in Congress.

Could that be true? Was Greg the original RINO and Will and Kim are his spawn?

Wow - this comment was on Bleeding Heartland - a Dem blog I read from time to time. Interesting take on Kim as a candidate against Bos or Fallon.

"I recently did some searching on this guy and I dont think he is really the top shelf candidate that the RNC wanted to challange for this spot, but he should be campaigned against as if he was.
No reason to leave any room for error in the 3rd

Vote Fallon!

Sounds like the Schmett Campaign is nothing more than a desparate attempt at a return to Camelot, that fictional place called, Camelot.

Where oh where is our King Arthur who will pull the sword out of the stone?

Did Kim Schmett REALLY beat out a million other sperm?
