Harkin opens with platitudes and lies.

Lives in the house where he was born? His children said their hometown was Alexandria Virginia.

Of course we all know about the Caribbean estate.

this guy wouldn't know the truth if it bit him on the butt.

Harkin wants a healthcare system with no one between the patient and the doctor, except the healthcare bureaucrat from the federal government who interacts with the the bureaucrat from the state government.

Great answer by Chris on the reasons for change.

Bahamas Tommy looks old and tired. He's wearing orthopedic shoes.

He sure can name drop though.

He keeps saying what I say. ???

Another huge Harkin lie. Boone Pickens says "drill, drill, drill".

Harkin's use of the Perkins distortion is just another example of his 35 year war with the truth.

Here come the fireworks!!

Really, I don't think Harkin knows what the truth is.

Pres. Bush said victory was an Iraq that could sustain itself, protect itself and be an ally in the war on terror. Exactly what is happening now for God's sake.

Tokyo Rose. Yes!

Nice job by Reed his strongest part of the debate

Look at Harkin's face! He is enraged.

Harkin doesn't really back away from Reed's claim.

It is about time someone to take Harkin to task for his treasonous remarks.

Harkin's career has been based on personal attacks. He says outrageous things about Republicans.

The Deplorable Old Bulldog said...

He can't. His public career is filled with anti-Americanism.

Man does Chris have Tommy pissed.

Rueters picked up on the "Tokyo Rose" comment here http://blogs.reuters.com/trail08/2008/10/23/talking-tough-in-iowa-us-senate-race/

Thanks for the link Ted.

So did Harkin just propose that the United States Senate should have the right to direct out military and not the commander and chief?

Anonymous said...

I do believe so.

Harkin totally ducked the true point-you invest for 45 years.

Oh Jeez, The Fox News is reporting the Tokyo Rose story. Doesn't look good for Reed. http://elections.foxnews.com/2008/10/23/gop-challenger-calls-harkin-tokyo-rose-al-qaeda/

Here is what Harkin told Reed after the debate.

After the cameras were turned off, Harkin calmly told Reed: “you’re a nice young man and I thought you had a political future ahead of you but that just ended your political career right there” and walked away. Reed said nothing.

The Tokyo Rose comment ended it for him..... that and pissing all over the Iowa GOP for leaving him with no support whatsoever.

Wow, you have got to be kidding me!
Reed is insane! I guess Komrade Krusty and Ted Westboro Baptist Sporer are happy but whoelse could be?

11 days until the blue tsunami

I think this "Tokyo Rose" statement is being blown WAY out of porportion. When Chris Reed was asked to clarify he said "Harkin is giving the playbook to the enemy". That is the truth. Maybe his analogy could have been better that's all.

Christopher Reed had a wonderful opportunity, and completely blew it.

Not to mention the fact that if he really wanted to succeede where three other GREAT Iowa Republicans failed, he would have moved more to the middle.

But also all he really had to do, was support Iowa Republicans and stick to his conservative ideals and yeah, he probably will still lose but he will support downticket candidates and have a wonderful chance at beating Braley if would so choose next term, or maybe a legislative seat.

Reed failed, and I honestly dont blame the IRP for ditching him, he obviously was all too willing to return the favor

Just a variation of "FULL NUDE DANCING". Ask the rep up in Minnesota that had a slam dunk victory how saying stupid things is flying with the voters this year.

Her opponent raced 1,000,000 dollars in 72 hours!!!

Albeit, Harkin doesnt need any money, but why cant Latham or King say something that stupid?

The farther behind the Republicans fall, the farther back in history they reach for useful insults to hurl at Democrats. It's not working to call "Gay" or "Terrorist" or "Socialist", so Reed had to reach all the way back to WWII. Wish him luck, if that's your style.

I'm guessing Harkin's conclusion will hold up well: Reed has lost his bearings.

Isn't that precisely what those preious three great Republicans to whom the anonymous poster referred did in their unsuccessful attempts to defeat Harkin?

Perhaps persuading the proverbial middle to agree with us is a better tactic? I certainly think so.
