It looks like Governor Terry Branstad is again the Republican nominee.

Good thing I moved to the more reliably blue MD. Going back to the distant R past would have been too depressing. At least here in MD our D governor has approval ratings in the 50%+ range and the former R guv challenging him is trailing in the polls. From what I see and hear, Culver needs a miracle to survive. In 2006, I didn’t think it was wise for D’s to nominate a guy with too many intellectual parallels to W. I think it’s always better to go with the smartest guy in the class versus the frat or athlete guy.
