Our Minority Leader in the US Senate, Mitch McConnell, again showed his ability to block the Democrats more extreme attacks on individual freedom.
As we know, Democrats usually describe their actions through antonyms. In defeating the Employee Free Choice Act, a bill that would have allowed the quite thuggish labor leaders to “organize” a work place without a secret ballot-the opposite of the free choice of a secret ballot, McConnell scored a major win for individual freedom. As we have long known from their repeated attacks on the secret ballot in political elections, a major facet of the liberal agenda is the collectivization of elections. As in most things political, Democrats tend to model their systems after the Soviet Union and voting is no different.
The Democrat caucus model is a perfect example. Whereas we implement “one man, one vote” and use secret ballots, with every vote being counted and reported, they require people to publicly declare the candidate they support and gather with the “group” that supports the same candidate. If you do not have enough fellow travelers then you either support another candidate or go home, your vote does not count.
Think of the power that unions would have if they could coerce membership in the dark corners, where extortion and other, less civilized forms of duress can compel one’s signature on a union card. It is just much harder to break a guy’s leg for voting wrongly if the leg breaker doesn’t know how the victim voted.
Another part of the radical agenda that the Democrats concealed until after the ’06 elections goes down in flames. So score another win for our guy and freedom.

Dear Sporer
Don't you mean to say " Think of the powers that the Unions would have if they could operate in the dark corners like Dick Cheney and what remains of a former honorable GOP.
Don't worry about union corruption, Abrahmhoff is still singing and a former Undersecretary of the Interior was just sentenced to prison. Worry about who is next in the Gop
A democrat complaining about public morality, after the dozens of Clinton Administration's 8 years of corruption, dozens of donors and officials indicted and convicted. The President himself disbarred for perjury and obstruction of justice. Cabinet secretarires indicted.
As for Abramoff, is that the same Jack Abramoff with whom Dingy Harry himself was doing some pretty shady business?

What's next, prostitutes complaining about a lack of public virtue?
Hey Ted - how about some insight as to which branch of govt the Vice President is? It appears he wants to be both executive and legislative - does that make him bi-_________. (Not exactly sure what to call it)

Once again, even Ron Paul gets more support than Tommy T. We have some nice parting gifts for you.
DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — An organization headed by Newt Gingrich donated $17,500 to the Republican Party of Iowa, giving the group some prime real estate at the party's straw poll in August.
Gingrich says he will decide in the fall whether to seek the presidency. Although Gingrich and his group, American Solutions for Winning the Future, will attend the straw poll, the former House Speaker isn't expected to be on the ballot.
The former Georgia congressman serves as general chairman of the group, a tax-exempt committee that has paid for Gingrich's travel and planned Internet-based workshops that will address problems facing the country.
Mary Tiffany, a spokeswoman with the Republican Party of Iowa, said in return for the donation, American Solutions will get space at the Aug. 11 straw poll in Ames, a major fundraiser for the state party.
"His group will have some sort of presence there, and they have paid for land," she said Tuesday.
Tiffany said the base amount for presidential candidates starts at $15,000, while fees paid by interest groups and organizations are determined on a case-by-case basis.
Gingrich's spokesman, Rick Tyler, said the former lawmaker has headed election-based workshops since 1984, and will do so at the straw poll.
"This is going to be an American Solutions workshop to actually help all candidates understand the approach we need in solving America's challenges," he said.

Newt's website for his american solutions group. Check it out and think about signing up.
Please do what you can to check out Duncan Hunter. Most of us in Iowa don't really know him, but since entering the race, I've been trying to give him equal time in my decision making process. The more I find out, the more I like. Don't count him out because he has low ID. He's making a lot of sense. Keep your minds wide open at straw poll. It's about issues this time, not name ID. We have a very deep bench of seriously qualified people. Listen to them all.
Congratulations to Team Tommy.
You can see the impact of his weekly visits to Iowa. Who would have thought at the beginning that Tommy would have such high numbers and closing in on McCain.
It shows that Tommy is influencing people because he is going eyeball to eyeball with real human beings, rather than having to simply campaign via 30 second commercials.
This proves that this process that we do, that is unique to Iowa, works for all of America. It's harder to lie and obfuscate when you are eyeball to eyeball with a real person.
All presidential candidates should be filtered by Iowans because we caucus and we are good judges of character.
I really noticed the big drop in percentages for Rudy and McCain. Look at the rise in Huckbee and Tommy. The race is wide wide open. The numbers reflect the effects of good ole fashioned politicing. We've been talking to them a lot and they are surprisingly accessible to one on one conversation and questions directly from regular ole citizens. It matters and it's working.
They dropped out because they knew they couldn't win.
Rudy dropped out because he had NO organization in this state up until late this month...
There was no way for him to put together a worthwhile Straw Poll effort..
Rudy's only been in Iowa twice since January. That's not the sign of a candidate serious about winning Iowa.
McCain pulled out because basically "If Rudy can do it..so can I"..plus..the bottom has fallen out of his fundraising and in his grassroots support. There's a good reason why he hasnt' shown back up in Iowa lately....he'd be figuratively drawn and quarterd by a lot of people in this state over the immigration bill.
