Mitt is Mormon right?

Yes. So?

The problem I have with Romney is that he does not hold a consistent postion for more than two days.

It will cause a problem for Christian Conservative outside of Utah. I assume we consider Iowa to be a state not named Utah so yes it will be an issue for him.

I can't say how much it will work against him but it will be significant. He could score huge if he has the magic bullet to win in Iraq or solve a key issue in a manner nobody else can. Short of that he will have a terrible time separating himself and his "flavor" will be a liability.

Moped,

You really ought to consider cutting Mitt some slack. Your boy Bill Salier talked relentlessly (quite rightly I might add) about winning hearts and minds. That is the first step. The second step is not acting like self-righteous zealots when we win people to our side of an issue. I don't remember anybody chastizing Ronald Reagan for being far less pro-life, both personally and in his governing than Mitt Romney. Mitt I might add has a solid pro-life and fiscally conservative record as governor.

Your entire argument is based on the idea that Romney is on our side.

There are three possibilities here:

1. Romney has converted to conservatism in the last six months;

2. He's lying, or;

3. He has always been a conservative despite his record, campaign statements, press releases and glowing praise from pro-aborts.

I don't buy 1 or 3.

Reagan had a long paper trail of how his thought process evolved on things (see the book Reagan in His Own Hand). It didn't happen overnight like it has with Romney.

Ken:

His Mormonism is a non-issue. Granted, some of their beliefs are on the goofy side but at least they don't call for slaughtering infidels.
