Rudy began his public life combating organized crime in New York and throughout the east coast of the United States. The previous job surely prepares him to deal with the Clinton racket.
Yesterday Rudy reminded and Ames audience that history did not begin with 9.11, nor end during the Clinton White House years. The foolishness of the anti-military attitude of the Clinton Administration has come back to haunt they United States, in a most predictable way.
Bill Clinton cut defense and intelligence spending each of the first six years of his administration. Yesterday, Rudy provided a reminder to an Ames audience of who created the force that Democrats like Abscam Jack Murtha and the pornographer Jim Webb now claim is “stretched too thin.”
Just something to think about as we head into the weekend talk shows.

Got to admit, Joe Biden is right on this one...

Iowa Conservatives: Don’t Fall for Rudy
STATEMENT BY STEVE SCHEFFLER:
“We’re not going to beat Hillary Clinton with someone who has a record of agreement with her on abortion, gay marriage, illegal immigration and many other issues important to Iowa conservatives.
Some conservatives seem willing to look past Giuliani’s liberal record because he appears strongest in national polls against Hillary Clinton. The truth is, the national election is still months away. Iowans should nominate a candidate who can draw a contrast with Hillary, not someone who shares her New York values. In fact, recent polls point to Giuliani’s slippage against Hillary Clinton on the national scene and are evidence that the “electability” argument doesn’t hold water.
Social conservatives such as Pat Robertson who back pro-abortion, pro-gay marriage candidates do a disservice to the conservative movement. At the end of the day, we have to stand for something, or our movement has no purpose.”
I agree 100% with Steve.
From an ousider's perspective I think the devout Christian community is very ill served by some of its "rock star" leadership for whom money and political power trumps all.
In my opinion rank and file devout Christians are much worse off than they were in 1980. What did they get for faithfully putting Republicans in the White House for all but 8 of the last 27 years? Nothing but more divorce, fewer marriages, the relentless falling buying power of the dollar, the loss of good paying jobs and housing, failing public schools, and endless war!
That's why to advance their interests I urge all devout Christians to caucus for me. At the very least you'll send the message it's no longer business as usual. Nevertheless with me in the White House they'll have a REAL FRIEND who'll set in motion policies which will cause the abortion rate to plummet as more and more young pregnant couples in love can afford to marry.
Mouthing pieties and platitudes on the campaign trail and delivering effective pro-family and pro-life policy in office are two different things.
Agree with Steve on Rudy, but there's no fucking way I vote for that kook Klein.
Anonymous--If you agree with Steve, here's why I'm you're only reasonable alternative.
Romney, Guiliani and Thompson are owned and operated by the mega money interests bleeding the middle class dry. Good for business their wet dream agenda is completing the North America Union with Mexico and Canada. Like Bush they can't wait for the chance to legalize illegal immigrants and then completely open the borders. Goes without saying we'll never be at peace again. Endless war is extremely profitable.
Ron Paul--Abolishing the Federal Reserve and restore a bullion back currency would overnight throw us into a Weimar style hyperinflation and a depression which would make the 1930s seen like a Sunday picnic.
Gov. Huckabee--A nice God fearing fella who if he gains traction can be relied upon to carry the water for whoever puts up the mega bucks fight the Democrats.
Tom Tancredo--A very decent man with a burning single issue unpopular with at least half of the electorate.
Oh, you are so right Kook Klein!!
I should vote for you!
Because a candidate for President of the United States is really credible when that have 2 grown men dressed as Batman and Spiderman.
Fuck, what was I thinking?
Klein I was wondering when you'd get around to identifying this "threat" that was supposedly made against you here in these blogs?
17 days and counting.....
My folks were in superhero getups at the Senate Banking Committee because earlier we did a fathers rights demonstration. They didn't have time to change before going to the Hill.
We might not be this credit meltdown had I been allowed to testify at Bernanke's confirmation hearing. The administration wanted him annointed without pesky types like me who really know something about money putting Bernanke's feet to the fire.
At my meeting with the GOP & Democratic banking committee staff chiefs offered in lieu of testifying I warned them about the likelihood of a subprime mortgage crisis and soaring energy costs fueled by the dollar's depreciation. Came away from the meeting feeling they actually didn't understand what I was talking about. Makes sense they didn't because top people wouldn't work for the low salaries they get in a very high cost of living area like DC.
Anonymous, I'm the only real Republican in this race. In fact for Guiliani being a Republican is like placing the Liberian flag on a Dutch ship to escape Holland's tighter ship safety, employment and insurance standards.
Eisenhower was last real Republican in the White House.
Does anyone have a link to where I can find Klein and these idiots in Super Hero Halloween costumes? I'll bet that's a sight beyond words.
Answer the Sack's question, Klein. What are you afraid of?
Idiots? These are men and women whose lives were ruined by today's federally funded divorce machine.
There are potentially 25 million such voters if mobilized will carry me into the White House.
Their vote is how I won Ted's poll with 52% in 8/06. The GOP knows what I could do competing on a level playing field which is why Ted won't relist me and the party wouldn't take my $15,000 for a ballot line at Ames.
Moreover, if the devout Christian community saw through the policy empty "values" Elmer Gantry con job the party pitches them, they'd get behind me as well.
Refreshing to see Steve is starting to see the light.
Didn't have time to change?
This story just keeps getting wierder...
Cool, because you know, that's the first thing I think when I'm on my way to Capitol Hill... what fucking superhero am I going to dress up as.
I got dibs on the Flash, that bitch doesn't get enough credit. Then I will switch to Thor when I visit the Lincoln Memorial.
Kook Klein, is it improper to wear more than one superhero costume when visting our nation's capital?
Please advise...

"Didn't have time to change"
I agree, what a load of shit. Formal function at the Watergate, Spider Man? Sorry didn't have time to change.
Answer Saccamano's question, Klein. What's this phony threat shit all about?
Look what I found on a NY Times site:

Will the Wall Street crowd gets its money’s worth from Clinton? Wouldn’t put my dough behind someone incapable of admitting to error.
— Posted by MARK KLEIN, M.D.
Oh really, Klein? You'd have us put our dough behind someone who makes phony threat claims, and hangs around with a bunch of fools dressed in Halloween Costumes? What about you, asshat, when are you going to come clean on this phony threat business, huh?
Is there a full moon?

Saw "Lions for Lambs" today. Definitely a movie our leadership should see as it reflects attitudes I encounter daily on the campaign trail.
Has the GOP's house members signed a suicide pact? Everyone of them voted against the AMT extension included in the bill to raise the marginal rate on "carried profits" made by super wealthy private equity financiers. It passed on a straight party line vote.
If the GOP blocks the bill in the senate, there'll be hell to pay at the ballot box when middle income taxpayers forced to cough up an extra $2000 to pay the AMT vent their fury.
Always pleased when my NY Times blog comments get read. Posted 2 or 3 comments in the Deal Book section today dealing with the Citigroup fiasco.
Dr. Klein;
Do you really think our leadership should take anything of value from a movie of any kind, much less A Redford movie.
Ted--Movies can be an excellent barometer of public sentiment and opinion. That "Lions for Lambs" openly criticizes the Republican party by name should be sufficient to make the leadership want to see it.
Meryl Streep's character Jenine Roth's scepticism of the handling of the Iraq and Aghanistan wars closely mirrors my own.
The party's mental life these days is best described as politically autistic. Addicted to slogans and petty pr manipulations to win the weekly news cycle it's totally out of touch with the electorate.
My run for the nomination is a test as to whether there's sufficient interest in the base for a return to real Republican principles. A decent showing in either in Iowa or New Hampshire will keep me in the party. I'll have the answer very soon.
If I'm just a lone voice in the wilderness I'll reregister as an Independent as have many of the moderately conservative voters I met in strong GOP areas of New Hampshire.
18 days and counting Klein continues to refuse to address phony threat claim he made.
Then again he's too busy making campaign moves based on movies and picking out Halloween costumes for his supporters to wear at their next rally.
Klein's bullshit gets funnier every day.
Agai, 18 days and counting since the phony threat claim by Klein.
Cool. I have foregin policy experience now, because I like military movies... ASS!
Ted!, 'bout time you made an appearance in response to this Klein slob. I have to admit I find it highly amusing these movie references of his. I can see the poor slob now, alone in the middle row of an empty afternoon showing, with his smuggled in candy and a flask of tap water (he re-fills in the sink in the toilets). The stress of his historic Presidential crusade must just melt away as he envisions himself as the hero in the flickering images in front of him. And then upon leaving the theatre the delusion becomes somehow real, he was the hero! Those were his ideas! That was his life up there on the screne! My God how laughable this thing would be if it weren't so sad! So very, very, very sad and pathetic.
Ken:
That last post is very good. I can just see the dumb bastard sitting in there all alone watching movie, projecting himself as tyhe hero. I agree, how sad and pathetic his life must be. "I know" thought he, "I'll lauch a Presidential Campaign, then surely that way I can make some friends, people will come to love me then!".
I agree, sad. And the bit abouty smuggling in candy is priceless.
All the Best,
The Iguana
