TRS , Huck, Scheffy and Mitt on C-SPAN.

TRS was super privileged to appear on C-SPAN earlier today. We took some good questions from the audience. We can never over sell the Caucus process. No method of Presidential selection is the superior of ours.

Much more important than our appearance on C-SPAN is the appearance of many of our candidates from Iowa. Huck is hold a press conference right now from Indianola. Huckabee is coming off quite well in the press conference. The narrow gap between Mitt and Huck is apparent from the aggression of the rhetoric between the two. Huck just called Mitt’s latest Iowa and NH ads as “dishonest to [Huckabee] and John McCain.” The questions are driving the answers to a certain extent but much of the focus of the questions is the “contrast” between he and Mitt.

We are in good company today. TRS was followed by Huck and now Iowa’s own Steve Scheffler. Scheffy is providing a kind of ICA analysis. Not surprisingly, Steve also foresees a close race for first, second and third. It's pretty clear that Scheffy, like TRS, is tired of being asked if "Christians" would reject Mitt because of his LDS faith. Steve gave a very good answer. ICA grass roots would support the Mormon who lived his faith and agreed with ICA on the issues over the person with a Christian denomination after their name who did not live their faith and didn't agree with ICA on the issues.

The ICA has a candidate’s
issue guide survey that the reader might find interesting. ....... and now, Mitt's appearance from Pella earlier today is on. Let's see what Mitt has to say. Stay tuned........

Ted,

Just caught you on CSpan...you did a GREAT job articulating the positions and providing in-depth analysis of the various GOP candidates.

Hope to see you in a national-level RNC position in the near future: we need you there!

Interesting story from the Boston Globe about Romne's funding of an abortion clinic:

Former governor Mitt Romney's economic development agency granted initial approval to a tax-exempt bond last year for a Planned Parenthood clinic in Worcester that will provide abortions, just two months before he left office and began highlighting his antiabortion position as a presidential candidate.

Asked about the $5 million financial deal yesterday, the Romney campaign said the former governor was not aware it was under consideration when Planned Parenthood won preliminary approval in November 2006.

Romney repeatedly used the power of his office while governor to advance socially conservative positions, including restricting stem cell research, pushing abstinence-only sex education in schools, and vetoing a bill to increase access to emergency contraception in hospitals.

In the case of the abortion clinic funding deal, the Republican candidate's spokesman Eric Fehrnstrom said Romney would have attempted to block it - if he had known about it.

"Mitt Romney is prolife," Fehrnstrom said. "He did not know about this loan. It was made by an agency that does not report to the governor. If it did, he would have told them not to do it."

In additon to providing abortion services, the 10,000-square-foot Planned Parenthood clinic planned for Worcester will offer Plan B emergency contraception, also known as the "morning after pill," which also is opposed by antiabortion advocates.

Jeffrey M. Berry, a political science professor at Tufts University, said he was surprised that Romney and his aides did not catch such a politically sensitive financial deal making its way through his economic development agency. Now, Berry said, the campaign will be put in the position of defending Romney at a time when he is heading into the most critical days of his candidacy.

"It is unusual that his people at the agency did not find a reason not to fund Planned Parenthood," Berry said. "His administration was clearly focused on his run for the presidency and making sure there was no embarrassment like this. It was an administration that was pretty efficient getting everyone operating on the same page and avoiding scandal."

While Romney's campaign said the agency that authorized the deal, MassDevelopment, is an autonomous authority, it was controlled by Romney appointees. Several of its 11-member board were top officials in the Romney administration, including Ranch Kimball, the chairman who was also Romney's secretary of economic development. Other members included another representative from Kimball's office and an official from the Executive Office of Administration and Finance.

In a statement to the Globe, Kimball said that it was his policy not to brief the governor's office on initial approval of loans.

"I did not brief the Governor's office on these initial reviews," he said.

The Nov. 8, 2006 vote by MassDevelopment to grant initial approval of the $5 million tax-exempt bond laid the groundwork for Planned Parenthood to begin planning the center and prepare for the loan closing.Continued...

Lessons from '04
Why did Iowa vote for John Kerry in '04, when he was trailing up till the final days? It was partly because Iowans knew Howard Dean would be a train wreck. But then why not someone like Dick Gephardt, the favorite son who would've almost certainly been more electable in the crucial mid-west states?

It was because, when it got down to voting time, Iowa knew that America could not elect a leader with no foreign policy experience in a post 9/11 world. Kerry's military service in Vietnam plus his international experience in the Senate would prepare him for a more dangerous and more global world.

I think that the same thing is happening this year on the Republican side. Voters might be able to live with Mitt Romney's fiscal record in Massachusetts, but they have been appalled at his lack of conviction with regard to social issues. But it is his utter lack of foreign policy experience which will finally sink Romney. Iowans know that a future commander-in-chief just cannot have ASOLUTELY NO foreign policy experience post-2001. The world is too dangerous a place, and as we have seen this week, events can overtake us with sudden fierceness.

The ONLY candidate who will be able to unite conservatives and serve as commander-in-chief is John McCain.

Fred Thompson is one of the most straightforward politicians I’ve seen. To quote an old saying, “he says what he means, and means what he says”. He understands the world we live in, the gravity of our war on terrorism and the geopolitics involved, our national security requirements, as well as the necessity of a strong economy, and proficient health and educational systems. And he understands what role the federal government should take in these matters and what roles it should not, states rights. You see, Fred is a firm believer in our constitution. He’s quite outspoken for our 2nd ammendment rights because of that belief. Go to Fred08.com to see for yourself his stances on the issues and his plans for improvement

(Posted this in the Des Moines Register today.)

"Having been openly cheated and unfairly excluded by the Iowa GOP I urge all Republicans to boycott the caucuses. The current system isn't much different from how the Nazis and Soviets controlled ballot access to "approved" candidates. What the caucuses are really about is lining the pockets of party officials, local lawyers, flacks and consultants. I got into trouble because my campaign was self financed and relied on volunteers. Hence when I won Polk County Chairman's Ted Sporer's online straw poll with 52% (Romney got 14%), the party freaked. No way could the hacks fill their pockets with gold with Dr. Klein on the loose. So my name was permanently removed from the poll, refused a ballot line at Ames, and denied access to party functions and debates. Left Iowa several weeks ago to campaign in New Hampshire where the ballot is open to any Constitutionally (qualified) candidate who pays a $1000 fee.

Wait Klein,

You forgot the the Anti-Semitism factor.

But say whatever works at the moment since that is what you are truly good at if nothing else.

Doesn't your campaign claim you are testing the waters? The answer is the water is too deep, the current too fast, and the shore too far away for someone who doesn't even qualify for also ran status.

You complain how life is so unfair while actual candidates, from both parties, have been swimming across the river.

Too bad there isn't a special olympic version of this election as you would be a sure thing.

Hey anon 5:51am you missed Klein's real intention which was to reduce the caucus vote to nil so his 5 or 6 supporters will carry the day.

Thought I'd post this again:

Klein you scummy piece of filth, I'm a practicing Catholic writing this with my beloved Jewish girlfriend of 6 years reading over my shoulder. Aside from the fact that my love for her knows no bounds, we're both curious why it is Jews like you are always so quick to call people Nazis. Short changed at McDonalds? The kid behind the counter was a Nazi. Something wasn't bagged at the grocery store? The bag boy was an anti semite. The cabbie drove a mile out of his way, he's a Palestine supporter. That shit never gets old with you and the rest of your generation of Jews that see anti semetism as an excuse for everything. Christ, Man! Even He turned his back on that crap. See the proverbial forest for the trees, Klein! Sweet Mother how dispicable you are. Dispicable! There's no sense even praying for the likes of you. So filled with hatred, so sick with perversion.

Pathetic.

Klein's a true pest who can't accept reality and probably never could. Scary to think he offered care (I pray he's lying about being a doctor at this point) as who knows how many people committed suicide or did silly things as a result of his advice.

Is Klein crazy like Don Quixote?

Alonso Quixano, a fiftyish retired country gentleman has become obsessed with books of chivalry, and believes their every word to be true, despite the fact that many of the events in them are clearly impossible. Quixano eventually loses his mind from little sleep and food and because of so much reading. He decides to go out as a knight-errant in search of adventure. He dons an old suit of armor, improvises a makeshift helmet, renames himself "Don Quixote de la Mancha," and names his skinny horse "Rocinante."

He sets out in the early morning and ends up at an inn, which he believes to be a castle. He asks the innkeeper, whom he takes to be the lord of the castle, to dub him knight. Don Quixote spends the night holding vigil over his armor, during which he becomes involved in a fight with muleteers who try to remove his armor from the horse trough so that they can water their mules.

Quixote approaches another neighbor, Sancho Panza, and asks him to be his squire, promising him governorship of an island. The rather dull-witted Sancho agrees, and the pair sneak off in the early dawn. It is here that their series of famous adventures begin, starting with Don Quixote's attack on windmills that he believes to be ferocious giants.

As to the post at 06:39. I don't doubt Klein earned his MD by completion of the required courses but I am curious as to the "when and why" he was drummed out of active practice. I say no way he left voluntarily, and I don't buy his bullshit about falling into some icredible stock deals as the reason for his so-called "retirement" either. My money says he got thrown out of the profession, or was offered a deal whereby he quit rather than be fired.

Anonymous said...

No doubt you're on to something there and I wasn't aware he was kicked out of practice but it really connects the dots. No way was he treating patients when he's past Pluto regarding reality.

You and Klein must be smoking the same sticky if you think that the author of McCain/Feingold, McCain/Kennedy and the Al Qaeda Bill of Rights should be anywhere near the White House.

Let's not forget that McQuisling says that he has not changed any of his positions. That means he is STILL pro-amnesty, STILL for using the Constitution as toilet paper, STILL opposed to tax cuts and STILL favors coddling terrorists.

If McCain had his way, interrogations would look like Monty Python's Spanish Inquisition bit. POKE HIM WITH THE SOFT PILLOWS!

JOHN MCCAIN WOULD LOSE THE WAR ON TERROR.

Dr. Klein,

I admit I haven't been keeping up with the DSM Register of late and it is possible I just can't find your post but given your many conflicting with reality statements I have to ask....

Where is your post you mentioned? I can't find it and I openly wonder if you made this one up as well.

Can you post the exact link and where we can read your post?

Duncan Hunter has moved up a bit on your poll. I may vote for him! Could a surge be slowly beginning in Iowa that we won't know about until election day? I think that a lot of Tom Tancredo supporters jumped to his side (more than we know yet), and he was just endorsed by Joe Farah of World Net Daily...something to think about...hm.....

Thanks for fighting the good fight TRS!

My how sensitive Ted's toadies are today. Why is it so tough to understand I'm pissed off to the Nth power getting booted off Ted's poll and refused a shot an Ames? What so unreasonable about believing doing well on Ted's poll might have created enough momentum to win Ames and be the frontrunner today.

True to the totalitarian "people's democracy" playbook when I reached 52%, Ted decided I couldn't win so he pulled me off permanently. http://therealsporer.blogspot.com/search?q=Musicians+wanted (see Part 2)

I did think at first anti-Semitism might have been a factor. In time was clear the issue was nothing but party hacks, hangers on, flacks and consultants chasing Mr. Green. Once I came to that conclusion, wrote in the New York Times NYC Mayor Bloomberg should have stayed in the GOP to try for the nomination. With his dough Romney's just a piker! The Iowa GOP is for sale to the highest bidder which is why Romney could buy "true conservative" credentials.

Pleased, dear toadies, to inform you I remain a licensed physician and board certififed psychiatrist in good standing. My record is clean. I was never sued, or even threatened, with a malpractice lawsuit. More importantly I never lost a patient to suicide.

I left practice once I made my pile speculating in real estate to share the raising of my then young children while managing my investments. However, I did continue for a time teaching psychiatry as a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of California medical school at Davis.

Linda Ronstadt's song "You're No Good" is an abt description of today's Iowa GOP. That's why I hope the rank and file will boycott the caucuses to begin the process of throwing the bums out.

Perhaps he can explain where his posting is on the Des Moines Register? I was likewise unsuccessful when trying to find his post. I do know the Register bans those who offend and it seems reasonable he could be banned. Too bad Ted can't ban Klein here.

Common Sense

Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend, Common Sense, who has been with us for many years. No one knows for sure how old he was, since his birth-records were long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape.

He will be remembered as having cultivated such valuable lessons as:
Knowing when to come in out of the rain; why the early bird gets the
worm; life isn't always fair; and maybe it was my fault.

Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies (don't
spend more than you can earn) and reliable strategies (adults, not
children, are in charge).

His health began to deteriorate rapidly when well-intentioned but
overbearing regulations were set in place. Reports of a 6 -year-old boy charged with sexual harassment for kissing a classmate; teens suspended from school for using mouthwash after lunch; and a teacher fired for
reprimanding an unruly student, only worsened his condition.

Common Sense lost ground when parents attacked teachers for doing the job that they themselves had failed to do in disciplining their unruly children.

It declined even further when schools were required to get
Parental consent to administer Car pool, sun lotion or a band-aid to a student; but could not inform parents when a student became pregnant and wanted to have an abortion.

Common Sense lost the will to live as the Ten Commandments became
contraband churches became businesses; and criminals received
better treatment than their victims.

Common Sense took a beating when you couldn't defend yourself from
burglar in your own home and the burglar could sue you for assault.

Common Sense finally gave up the will to live, after a woman
failed to realize that a steaming cup of coffee was hot. She spilled a little in her lap, and was promptly awarded a huge settlement.

Common Sense was preceded in death by his parents, truth and trust; his wife, discretion; his daughter responsibility; and his son, reason.

He is survived by his 3 stepbrothers; I Know My Rights, Someone Else Is To Blame, and I'm A Victim.

Not many attended his funeral because so few realized he was gone.
If you still remember him, pass this on. If not, join the majority and do nothing and kissing your happy aXX good by.

Today we have an opportunity to bring Common Sense back to life in this country.

It is time for us to rise up and take our country back by electing Duncan Hunter as President of the United States.

Today, it seems some have forgotten our beginnings. Instead of Americans with a shared vision, we have become a nation divided. We have become a nation of individuals and groups, each with a special interest vision, often without thought for what is best for the nation. We are, however, a nation that at one time had an immutable vision for all.

Duncan Hunter is a man that has a vision for the nation, a vision that includes all men and it’s the same vision that our Founding Fathers held for this nation.

So, I say to you, as a Reagan Republican, I will vote for Duncan Hunter and work to put him in the White House 2008. Please take time to give Duncan Hunter another look, as I did. There is much work to be done. Time is short. Let’s begin - in earnest - and may God Bless our efforts.

PS:
I invite you to join the Duncan Hunter team for America at http://www.gohunter08.com/index.asp and help put him in the White House in 2008. I ask you to donate all you can for America and Freedom, donate to the candidacy of Duncan Hunter.

Respectfully,
Russell M. Scott

While Ted's toadies pontificate the anti-Klein line, I'm out and about in New Hampshire. Have so many signs up around most of state very frequency hand brochures to people who've seen them and wondered who I was.

I've probably met 4-5 times the number of actual voters than my opponents have. What they do is attend staged events often packed with staff, local politicos on the take, family and friends. Basically they jump and off busses for photo ops timed to make the evening news. Don't detect any grassroots supports for any of them except for Ron Paul. Even his while noisy is quite thin.

Today is slow day for me so far with just posting a dozen or signs at key locations, and visiting 6 restaurants to handout 200-300 brochures. Taking a break this afternoon resuming tonight. Only 6 campaign days left as of Monday.

As I never lost a patient to suicide, I'm trying to do the same for the GOP. The party's grown stale, lazy, and ingrown. That's obvious here in New Hampshire where 40% plus of the electorate are independent with the majority of those former Republicans.

The party's attitude towards me brings to mind severely mentally ill hospitalized patients, particularly those with acute mania, seeking court orders to block appropriate and safe medications. Treated several manic lawyers behaving like mad hatters who insisted on conducting their legal business from the psych ward.

Can this party be saved? My guess is the odds are 1 in 10.

Now for the good news. Following the caucuses I probably won't post here very often.
