Musicians Wanted

Part 1

Archie Brooks’ resignation from the Des Moines City Council has to be the most frightening event in the last half century in Polk County politics. Today Archie said “The CIETC thing keeps going but in the last weeks it's started to show that I'm not the only guy" in the spotlight, Brooks said. "I'm not going to take the fall for a lot of people at the state they are trying to protect." In light of that bone chilling statement, the music that Archie could sing would make quite an album (CDs to you youngsters). As the Beatles proved with Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band” in 1967-a story album works.

Track 1 – Working Class Hero (John Lennon). The story line here is about Des Moines labor boss, CIETC Board member, and Prairie Meadows Board member Dan Albritton,- who most recently delivered a $450,000 bonanza to his unions, courtesy of John Mauro, Tom Hockensmith and Angela Connolly. “Theres room at the top they are telling you still…If you want to be like the folks on the hill. A working class hero is something to be…”

Dan and Archie could sing a duet chorus while living La Dolce Vita on the boat of the same name they shared with Ramona Cunningham.

Track 2 - We are Family (Sly and the Family Stone). The second line of the refrain says it all-“I got all my family with me.” How many hundreds of thousands of dollars in bonuses and raises for friends and family?

Track 3 – Shaft (Isaac Hayes). “Who is the man with the [payoff] in his hand, Ako, Ako Samad”.

Track 4 – On the Road Again” (Waylon & Willie). A country homage to the many vacations purchased with tax dollars courtesy of that Tom Vlassis acquired $25K credit limit MasterCard for Ramona courtesy of CIETC. “Like a band of gypsies we go down the highway. We're the best of friends; Insisting that the world be turnin' our way.” Can’t you just the see the happy smiles as that credit card got signed-while partying with their friends Tom Hockensmith, Angela Connolly and John Mauro.

Track 5 – Angie (Rolling Stones). A tortured plea for Angela Connolly, who most recently helped orchestrate the ouster of long time Recorder Tim Brien for the offense of not hiring her brother. Pity poor Angie when she had to tell her brother “At least you can’t say we never tri-ied”.

I’m looking for suggestions as to some other numbers Archie (“Sugar”-that one dates me) Brooks could use to finish off an 8 – 10 track story album. Reader’s suggestions are welcome. Burton Rider and Maverick this means you and any other musicians need to put on your creative hats and help complete this album.

Part 2

Some of you may have noticed a recent upsurge in support for Dr. Mark Klein on the presidential preference poll. It turns out that the Klein votes weren’t a crank Democrat attempt to squirrel the poll but a reflection of a small groundswell of support for that candidate’s position on the importance of fathers in the lives of our children. The Iowa based “Children Need Both Parents” group found the Real Sporer and expressed their support for Dr. Klein.

Perhaps this otherwise anomalous voting pattern points to an overlooked issue in our conservative “family first” message. In a society that is altogether too atomized we need to ensure that fathers are more than ATMs in broken and blended families. The Democrat approach has been to focus on child support collection as the only contribution that Dads make-but where is our answer? Food for thought, eh? Maybe some Republican candidates will start talking about the very real non financial problems faced by broken and blended families.

But these Iowa political polls get watched in Washington. Dr. Klein has no chance of securing our nomination. If viewed from the prism of our first in the nation status we felt that resetting the poll would prevent national figures from trivializing the issue of fathers as a statistical quirk of a local blog poll.

Reflections on Dows in August

Last night we had the opportunity to travel up to Dows for the "Tribute To Stu" Iverson event. Stu recently completed his final term as State Senate Majority leader and is retiring from the Senate.

Another good turn out for Republicans. Leon Mosley (our State CoChair) took time from his own re-election campaign in Black Hawk County to be at Dows. Steve Roberts, National Committeeman and Bonnie Hall (4th District) were in attendance from the State Central Committee (in addition to me-3rd Districts.). Bill Northey, our Secretary of Agriculutre nominee sat at the head table, looking tanned from the campaign trail. Several legislators, current legislative candidates, former legislators, and former party officials were scattered throughout the audience-another good sign.

Gov. Pataki was grounded by extreme weather in South Carolina. The Governor called in and presented Stu with an American flag that had flown over Ground Zero. Jo Ellen Hill (Sporer's Hot Spouse) did the presentation on behalf of the 21st Century Freedom PAC as it's State CoChair.

Attendance was way over 100. It was great to see such a good turnout in the middle of fair and vacation season. The Republicans in the room seemed pretty enthusiasatic, although many wondered why we aren't pushing back against the constant stream of Democrat attacks. A very sweet older Republican woman asked me why we "back down from those devils".

Leon was a big hit, as always.

The lack of controversy is a great sign that we are unifying for November. Big thanks to the Tri-County Republicans for putting together the event and providing Republicans in their neighborhood the chance to come together and fire up, so to speak. But, as Gov. Pataki's 21st Century Freedom PAC Iowa State Chairman I don't think that Stu has closed his public career-and that's a good thing.

Hezbollah (Like Smoochy) Must Die

Another night of going sort of international in the internet thought stream. We’ll be back on the Polk County Democrat Machine very soon. I think next week will be big on the home front. But tonight, my thoughts are on the need for education about war.

The people of Lebanon have allowed Lebanon to become a battlefield. This could only have happened for one of two reasons. Either Lebanon as a nation is incapable of controlling its own territory and has allowed its territory to be a staging ground for the world’s most powerful terrorist organization’s war against Israel or Lebanon has actually allied itself with Hezbollah and is complicit in Hezbollah’s genocidal motivated aggression against a neighboring nation, Israel.

When all of the rhetoric is stripped away those are the only two possible reasons that Lebanon is now a battlefield. If, as I think, most Lebanese would like to see the end of Hezbollah then Israel is a liberating force in restoring Lebanese sovereignty. If the Lebanese government is complicit with Hezbollah, then the Lebanese people have allowed themselves to be drawn into a war they cannot possibly want or win. The only way for the war to end is for the Lebanese people to force their government to expel Hezbollah, through whatever means necessary, including allowing occupation by foreign military forces.

If Hezbollah is expelled from Lebanon then the forces of civilization will have won a tremendous victory. If Hezbollah is merely defanged then Americans will still sleep more safely. But if Hezbollah and Iran win, and they win by surviving as a military force to any significant degree with access to southern Lebanon, then the forces of the darkest vision mankind has yet produced will feel empowered to conduct even greater acts of aggression against the West.

As I often say, don’t believe me; believe the words of the terrorists themselves. As the madman President of Iran, Hezbollah’s admitted arms supplier, said today (8-4-06)
“[a]lthough the main solution is for the elimination of the Zionist regime, at this stage an immediate cease-fire must be implemented”. So the next time some simpering liberal drools out the need for a cease fire to stop the killing, ask them who’s interest that would serve, America and our friend Israel or Hitler, Jr.

Your Vote-Jerk of the Week.

This is a new Thursday feature-"Jerk Of The Week". The criterion is having been noted in the news for doing something uniquely vomit inducing in public life. Eligibility for the award is somewhat amorphous. The repugnant behavior doesn’t have to occur in the week of nomination but does require media coverage during the week of nomination. A nominee’s nausea induction can be delivered from a local, state, national or international stage. The nominee can be a person, people acting in concert or an institution. So here are the two finalists:

In the Red Corner we have the Main Stream Media. In a different context, but a historical analog, Hitler described the western leaders who fought to prevent western rearmament and confrontation with Nazi Germany over facial violations of the Treaty of Versailles as “useful idiots”. Conventional wisdom throughout the 1930s described Hitler as just another central European politician. The 1930s MSM went to great lengths to distort or ignore reality so as to minimize the growing threat of Nazi Germany. Politicians of all stripes throughout the United States, France and the United Kingdom focused on the costs of rearmament, the potential for war and the hundreds of thousands of potential casualties that would arise from a war fought in the mid to late 30s.

The coverage of the Israel/Hezbollah war exemplifies the analog. The American media focuses on just two aspects of this conflict. Lebanese civilian casualties are the primary focus in America, and almost the only aspect of the coverage in Europe. American media does, at least, include some mention of Israeli dead, although scant mention is made of the distinction between the Lebanese and Israeli non combatant loss. For example, wouldn’t you like to see Katie Couric mention that the terrorists are firing unguided rockets randomly into heavily concentrated populations for the purpose of killing civilians while acknowledging that Lebanese casualties are an example of the tragic accidental by-product of all wars through all of history?

The other aspect of American coverage is the need for George W. Bush to stop the fighting because, of course, it is the lack of his “involvement” in the Middle East that caused the conflict in the first place. Yeah, right-like the Arabs and Israelis haven’t been going at it since Truman remodeled the White House.

In the yellow corner is the other finalist, Jack Murtha. Murtha illustrates another significant historical example, the once great French general, Marshal Henri Pétain. Pétain was the greatest French hero of World War One where he turned defeat into victory at Verdun with the immortal and heroic words “They Shall Not Pass”. In 1917, as C-in-C he saved the French army from disintegration during a mass mutiny and then lead that army to victory in 1918. While Murtha has a distinguished career as a mid-level Marine officer his military contributions to his nation are as an ant to an elephant compared with Henri Pétain.

The shock of the casualties and devastation in WW I created the appealing but utterly false concept that war is the worst condition of mankind. The pacifism that arose from the post WW I philosophy of weakness lead directly to Hitler’s power and aggression.
.
Pétain campaigned hard to prevent French rearmament in the 30s because it might provoke a war with Germany. When Germany did exactly what Hitler (like today’s Islamofacists who clearly state their totalitarian and genocidal objectives) said he was going to do, attack France, the pacifists had so weakened French defenses that the nation collapsed in just six weeks.

Pétain to the rescue-rather than fight from France’s North African colonies or fight inch by inch for France he advocated surrender. As President of Vichy France he collaborated with the Nazis in all of their endeavors, including the Holocaust.

Pétain began the year 1940 as the most beloved hero in his nation, one of its greatest historical figures, and died a despised traitor in prison, after having his death sentence commuted to life in prison. The only difference between Pétain and Murtha is Pétain actually gained power and was able to implement his pacifist agenda.

Something to think about at the polls in November so the first "Jerk Of The Week" is…………..

Jack Murtha. Your nominees please.

Do you believe me or your lyin' eyes?

There’s an old joke about a man who, upon being caught by his wife in bed with another woman denies guilt by asking “Do you believe me or your lyin’ eyes?” Well, fifty-eight years of one party government has made the Democrat Polk County Machine just that arrogant.

Let’s get his straight, Ako’s operations get a couple of hundred thousand dollar grant from his close friends and allies John "Boss Hogg" Mauro, Angela "Lulu Hogg" Connolly and Tom "Roscoe P. Coltrane" Hockensmith-who’ve been giving Ako hundreds of thousands of un-audited dollars for years. Then, Ako, wearing his other hat as a CIETC Board member approves diverting the funds into bonuses and raises for friends, families and political supporters of, you guessed it, Boss, Lulu and Roscoe. Go think.

Now that is simply not, in any way, believable. But then, Democrats make a living out of convincing the public that it snows in Iowa in August. This time maybe, just maybe, the facts will bury them.

There is apparently an almost limitless source of funds from the public coffers for well placed Democrats here in Hazzard County (Iowa). Ako got Prairie Meadows grants, Community Betterment grants, Federal Grants, CIETC grants, Des Moines Foundation grants, hell, grants for the development of more grants, and, at the center of it all, always the same small number of people. Year after year hundreds of thousands of taxpayer dollars were poured by the same three Democrats into Ako’s operations.

Last night I inquired into the whereabouts of Roscoe P. Hockensmith’s outrage before Clark and/or Jason interviewed him. Perhaps it took a road trip to Atlanta with Boss and Lulu while he was asking Boss and Lulu to go along with his four hundred Gs retroactive gift to the County labor unions.

In defense of this conduct, the Hazard County (Iowa) Dem Sups, Ako, Archie Tom and the gang all say that they never paid attention to where, or to whom this money went, what was done with it and what the taxpayers got for it. So the defense to grift and corruption is incompotence? Hell of a campaign slogan "Vote for us, we're dumb not dishonest".

Are you telling me it isn’t time to

SWEEP OUT THE COURTHOUSE
