Sunday Talk Review-Meet the Press (NBC)-John Edwards shows he's not just shallow.

Tim Russert displayed some tenacity and pugnacity in his interview. It seems that Edwards smug, self-serving and grossly hypocritical persona and life style grates on liberals too.

Russert began with Bill Richardson’s critique of the Edwards/Clinton position on Iraq. Richardson hs now joined Dennis Kucinich on the lunatic fringe of not just wanting out of Iraq but actually proposing such precipitous flight that we leave equipment behind like the Brits at Dunkirk., leaving no one behind to even guard the Embassy (or maybe not even leaving an embassy). Edwards would leave forces behind to guard the Embassy and a reaction force in Kuwait. The Breck Girl insists that the reaction force would only fight Al Qaeda in Iraq from Kuwait. If we cannot subdue Al Qaeda with 150,000 combat soldiers and marines based inside the battle zone in Iraq (the premise of Democrat opposition to the surge) then how would a much smaller force that is remote from the battlefield increase the probability of battlefield victory? Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus.

Edwards was then confronted with the Kerry like flip-flop on Iraq. Russet even went so far as to expose Edwards’ sponsorship of the Iraq war resolution. Edwards glossed over his enormous flip on Iraq but he did advocate sending bills that conditions war funding on a time table for withdrawal (which in grammatical and historical terms is known as “defeat”) to the President everyday. Daily confrontation, that’s the keystone to unity.

Russert stayed on the massive Edwards’ Iraq flip with the tenacity of a terrier. Edwards ‘ response was his stump speech, which Russert amazingly let him make, although he did work a statement into the mix that Iraq was much worse than it was in 2003-2004, which flies in the face of every objective fact.

Russert then pounced on what is perhaps the most offensive of Edwards’ many garish hypocrisies, the lavish hedge fund furnished life style lead by Mr. Two Americas. Edwards responded with a speech about his lifetime commitment to poverty, “what [his] life has been about”-fighting poverty. It would seem a substantial body of evidence supports the proposition that Edwards has fabulously enriched himself during this crusade against poverty. The most recent enrichment has come from a hedge fund that profited from the foreclosure of sub-prime home mortgages.
Edwards reiterated his belief that Evita would simply substitute a group of corporate Republicans with corporate Democrats. That sounds good to his base. Edwards continues to draw “distinctions” with Hillary. The primary distinction appears to be a lack of money and credibility.

Edwards displayed all the characteristics of an old tie. You know its still in the closet, you see it every day but it never makes the collar because it is just too out of style.

Sunday Talk Review-Fox News Sunday-Damascus Nancy and the Post Office Congress

Chris Wallace hosted Speaker “Damascus” Nancy Pelosi this morning. Right off the bat Spkr. Pelosi displayed the road she pursued to 11% approval ratings.

The very first topic was SCHIP. Pelosi first excoriated President Bush, launching such articulate critiques as “President Bush has something against the middle class”. Pelosi then justified tax payer provided health insurance to adults whose family incomes are three times the poverty level because it eliminates the “penalty” of having to purchase health insurance. What’s next, the federal government relives the “penalty” of buying cars for essential, perhaps life saving locomotion or free heat in the winter and AC in the summer because it eliminates the “penalty” of purchasing necessary, potentially life saving, climate control? Since Pelosi has supported hundreds of tax increases on the very same people whose incomes are three times poverty how is her internal position not simply socialized medicine supported by income redistribution?

Pelosi completely ducked responsibility for having been fully briefed on all interrogation methods used by the Administration. The techniques of head slapping, water boarding and temperature extremes are, of course, not “torture” under American law. Moreover, her carefully parsed words and unusual forbearance of an attack on the President over this issue makes it pretty clear that she has been fully aware of American interrogation techniques and has at least tacitly approved them. Pelosi’s response this morning builds on Pres. Clinton’s statements about interrogation as evidence that the current Democrat howling about “torture” is pure political posture.
Pelosi made no news when the conversation turned to Iraq. Like every other liberal advocate of “safe redeployment” Damascus Nancy didn’t bother to explain what a “limited” American role would look like. For example, Pelosi wants to leave enough troops to fight Al Qaeda and guard the American Embassy in Bagdad while leaving unanswered questions of who and how would we secure the bases from which we launch our attacks against Al Qaeda. Would you not like to hear the Democrats actually answer those questions?

When confronted with statistical evidence, in the liberals own currency of casualties, Pelosi stuck to the defeat at any price agenda and simply denied that evidence of battlefield success is success. Rather than admit any success what so ever Pelosi ignored the real, tangible and used the already tired attack on Iraqi political problems. Pelosi thinks that complete political reconciliation should be fully accomplished by the end of 2007. Preposterous on its face, insistence on such a silly schedule of events is further evidence of the enduring Democrat trait of our time, complete incompetence on foreign policy.

Damascus Nancy lived up to the name this morning. The Speaker would not distance herself from her endorsement of Syrian President Assad as an agent of peace in the Middle East. When asked about the Syrian/North Korean nuclear facility Pelosi responded with an attack on Israel for having represented that they too were interested in peace, making it pretty clear whose victory she preferred in the Israeli and Lebanese wars with Hezbollah.

The combination of the Pelosi commentary on Iraq and Syria provide substantial evidence that Pelosi is solidly among the twenty or so percent of Democrats that are, in fact, cheering for a terrorist victory in Iraq. If you liberal readers find this accusation harsh, share everything that Pelosi has done to contribute to victory in Iraq before you sling one ad hominem in our direction.

Pelosi literally listed tag lines her campaign lines about “holding the President accountable”. Other than having provided the largest increase in veterans’ benefits in the history of the V.A. Pelosi couldn’t come up with any significant legislative accomplishments of her tenure. Not surprisingly, Pelosi blamed the Bush vetoes for what hasn’t been accomplished on the war and the even larger welfare state the Democrats are trying to create.

I don’t think Spkr. Pelosi in interested in answering anything harder than a 2” gimme putt. Too bad for us Republicans.

Why Rudy leads.

Rudy Giuliani has been consistently leading in our national polls. Rudy has hung in at second in Iowa almost without campaigning here; even closer in New Hampshire and ahead in big states like Florida; Pennsylvania and California. It seems the national media is quite perplexed at Rudy's consistent popularity. Just today Rudy provided a good explanation of why many Republicans are drawn to him where there personal ideology might be more conservative.

Rudy consistently and almost continuously stays on the offense against the Democrats. Today
Rudy unloaded on Evita’s completely ambiguous Iraq/Iran remarks as well as her commitment to a European socialist style governing model for the United States.

It seems everywhere I have been for the last couple of years I have heard Republican discontent with the refusal of our national leaders to engage the Democrats. Although Fred and Huck have taken some good shots at the Dems, Rudy consistently lands the hardest and most frequent shots on the Democrats. Rudy’s pugnacity, tenacity and debate skills well serve this function of a would be party leader and explain, at least in part, the persistency of his lead.

Birthdaypallooza 07.

The Real Sporer and Hot Spouse were privileged to attend the major Republican red carpet social event of 2007 tonight at Tim Flanagan’s on Ingersoll.

Congrats are due to Timmy, G and AB. Way to maintain the tradition of celebrating number thirty at Flanagan’s.

Talk about a star studded GOP event. M.C. Barth came all the way from the Nation’s capital to spin the tunes. The percussion performance artist from
Sunny Humbucker was spotted backstage banging on the pipe and drape, giving the event even further star power. There were so many A-listers that one’s head simply spun in an effort to see them all. Far too many to mention everyone by name.

Marcus lacked only the 20 year old scotch and some trampy blonds of similar age to not just sound like Deano, but actually be Deano. Even the packed house of Republican glitterati was awestruck.

Although the assemblage seemed ecumenically well divided among several Republican Presidential campaigns one could almost feel pity for the Dems when the superstar crowd gets assembled behind the same guy, who and when ever that occur.

Birthdaypallooza also proves another important point. Republicans really do have more fun.

Iowa Caucus Date Has Not Changed!

Recent rumors that the Iowa Republican Caucus ’08 has been moved to January 3 are not accurate. No official action has been taken. No action will be taken for at least ten days.

Moreover, I think it is fair to say that any ultimate decision by RPI will be made only after consultation with IDP leadership. Our party desires to act as closely as politics permits with the IDP leadership in the interest of the state of Iowa.

We are also mindful that our local county leadership needs to have a decision as soon as possible for planning purposes. I anticipate that the decision will be forthcoming before the end of October.

Remember, Iowa is only one player in a national game and our decisions also affect many others. Most of the SCC understands that we also must cooperate with other states if we are to expect or even request their cooperation with us.

If the Caucuses do move it is also fair to say that January 3 and January 5 are the leading candidates for the new schedule. Feel free to let me know what you think of those dates.

Its good to be the Boss…………

…………. in Hazzard County, Iowa. Long time Supervisor John Mauro received even more insider benefit from Des Moines’ Planning and Zoning Commission.

After having already received over $4.6 million dollars from we, the taxpayers, the Boss apparently planned poorly and required a new site, more time and rezoning to take full advantage of the already awarded public largesse. Would anyone care to wager a dime on the results of next Monday’s City Council vote on the Boss’ rezoning request?

Who said being the Boss is tough?

Camelot in Arkansas, do you remember when…………..

………… the Clinton Administration had all of those FBI files on Reagan and Bush Administration officials and Bill’s girl friends?

But hey, since they didn’t get indicted for procuring those files it sounds like just some of the good ol’ days Hill and Bill will restore if Evita gains power.

.............. and on a final note, hatred here in the Heartland.

Just found this bit of defamatory hatred emanating from Pott County.

Given the content and the title, perhaps the Iowa Guy should have introspectively posed the title question before striking the “publish” button?

………… oh, in terms of leopards and spots, I almost forgot.

Lest we should ever forget, the Dems are salivating at a chance to use the Iraq campaign to raise taxes on even the poorest of Americans. Since we are still paying the surtax on telephone charges used to finance the Spanish –American War in 1898 109 years after the American victory over the Spanish maybe we cut spending and stimulate the economy before we raise taxes and slow the economy.

Just a thought, I could be wrong.

The real threat behind the latest Harkin lie.

Tom Harkin took it upon to humiliate himself, at least before a fair minded and fully informed audience, in his grossly defamatory attack on Rush Limbaugh. The latest canard being circulated by Tom Harkin and the liberal political and media elites only happens to target Limbaugh. The last seven days have featured the completely fabricated O’Reilly is a racist story; the shameless exploitation of school children (SCHIP rally); and now this gross distortion of Rush Limbaugh’s word. What you, the reader, needs to understand the latest attempt by the left to destroy those whose ideas cannot be defeated through reasoned discourse.

Unlike previous generations of liberal smear, the politics of personal destruction left won't necessarily win this time. What differentiates the present marketplace of ideas from 1991-1992? In the days before Al Gore invented the internet and talk radio took the air Democrats could slime Republicans with impunity. The distortions and pandering of the left were uncritically presented in the light most favorable to Democrats’ electoral needs by a willingly sycophantic media that agreed with the distortions and pandering.

In those days, the willing complicity of most mainstream media in lies like Tom Harkin's war/fish stories about his days as a combat fighter tangling with MiGs over ‘Nam allowed Democrat fiction to become established fact. Now there are heavily trafficked mediums that allow Republicans to fight back. The Real Sporer is a small cog in this much larger machine, but we are an example of this alternate media.

Having refrained from commentary when ABSCAM Jack (Murtha) defamed specific American Marines with a false accusation of murder, when Barak Obama said that we were "air raiding villages" and John Kerry said we were breaking into houses at night "terrorizing kids and women", Tom Harkin, Harry Reid and the rest of the Democrats who feign outrage at Limbaugh now demonstrate the most grotesque of hypocrisy. The hour demands that we now ask ourselves how are us Republicans going to handle this monstrosity?

The new media allows Rush, O’Reilly and President Bush to reach an audience that was unavailable to previous generations of Republicans; but that provides only half the answer to the Democrat smear machine. The other half is a willingness to defend and go over to offense. The Bush Administration committed a major blunder in allowing Joe Wilson’s lies to get off the ground. The liberal media took the almost cringing response of the Administration as opening a hunting season on the truth of the American war effort.

O’Reilly and Limbaugh are now demonstrating that you can win but you have to fight. Apologizing for words or acts that one does not consider wrongful only strengthens one’s adversaries in the Culture War. When the Dems and their running dogs in the media commence the distortion of Republican words the only viable response is direct and immediate confrontation of the lie with factual reality, correct context and reasoned argument-and we do it in every media venue that permits it. Otherwise the hate filled echo chamber of the left will convert the lie into conventional wisdom and accepted fact.

Fox; the internet and talk radio are devouring audience share. Old media “icons” like CBS News, the NY Times and the big three news magazines face plunging ratings and circulations. Since they cannot win in the marketplace, Dems seek to intimidate disagreeable speech until they can implement the “Fairness Doctrine”. Democrats hate free speech because it allows Republicans to be heard, period. Then, if the Limbaughs of the world can be heard at all they will be opened to unrebuttable attacks from the left, like the 80s and early 90s. Coupled with the politicization of public education the liberals will have achieved their generational goal, the complete indoctrination of the American public.

Once that happens Republicans will not return to power for a generation, if ever. That is what you have at stake in the next election.
